Job Duties: Duties include, but are not limited to: process admission and release of juveniles including performing necessary searches, checking property and completing paperwork, provide first aid and administer medications according to prescribed time and dosage, provide adjustment and crisis counseling to juveniles, escort juveniles to designated activated and court hearings, lead recreational activities, discipline juveniles and recommend or initiate other measures to control behavior, instruct juveniles regarding desirable health and personal hygiene habits, perform housekeeping duties, ensure the safety and security of the juveniles’ daily activities and special incidents, and other duties as assigned.



Minimum Qualifications: Associates degree in Criminal Justice, Psychology or Social Services preferred(link removed) Must have knowledge of the criminal justice system, ability to read, analyze and interpret general profession journals, policies, procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and evaluate the performance of juveniles. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from juveniles, supervisors, childcare workers and the public. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations, ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.



Unusual Working Conditions: May be exposed to unhealthy environments and/or youth/family members with contagious diseases; may come into contact with individuals who are violent or prone to violence.
