What Does a Yard Associate Do? - Verifies material are in good condition, accurately accounted for, and delivered to customer on time
- Organizes and secures loads, following appropriate safety procedures
- Builds positive relationships with the customers and ensures their needs are met
- Assist with moving product through the yard
- Pull materials from racks, units, or other storage areas to prepare for pick-up or shipment
- Build loads and load trucks from outbound deliveries
- Assists forklift operations when loading
- Band/ organize materials for safe forklift handling and delivery/arrival
- Remove lumber from units and place boards in rack, according to grade and lengths
- Safely load lumber and building materials into appropriate bins or stage locations
- Assist with inventory control
- Remove defective and damage lumber from racks
- Assist customers with loading of lumber and building materials
- Maintain good working relationships with customers, vendors, fellow associates, and management
- Maintain the appearance of the yard and racks
- Additional duties as assigned
Requirements What Does It Take to Be Successful as a Yard Associate? - High school diploma or equivalent
- Forklift Certification preferred however can be obtained after being hired
- Ability to lift up to 100lbs consistently and bend, twist, squat and reach throughout work shift
- Results-oriented with ability to serve stores with humility and be a steward of Nations Bests values.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while remaining adaptable and flexible
- Strong interpersonal skills with willingness to consistently provide superior customer service skills
