Research, design, develop, and test manufacturing and installation of software components, and systems with regards to the downhole drilling process and physical limitations of mechanical components on a rig. Plan, design, and deliver drilling rig automation and drilling performance systems as well as assist in the development, monitoring, and maintenance of drilling optimization system. Utilize electrical equipment and electronic control systems, analyze equipment, and control performance. Design, test, deploy, and commission automation control systems for drilling rigs in real-time production environment using User-Interface designing tools including Ignition 7.9 and 8.1, and Jython. Monitor and report on multiple field production systems and train personnel in front-line, service-related roles for software deployment and commissioning at drilling rigs. Operate computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment and use control system, logic circuits, in order to program the PLCs using Siemens TIA software. Support and coordinate manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements. Perform database management in building SQL database for warehousing data on drilling rigs and using data analysis in R and Python and PowerBI to extract, transform and analyze large drilling dataset in real-time to compile data and write reports regarding existing/potential drilling and electronic engineering projects. Develop new algorithms for more efficient drilling. Create high fidelity physics-based models using Matlab and Simulink for control code testing. Develop new technology to increase efficiency, increase safety, and reduce cost in drilling operations. Develop machine learning models for implementation in automation and analytics applications with the use of drilling engineering models to correct and tune existing applications including Auto-Drillers. Develop interfaces for complex automation and control applications through electronic components such as HMI. May Telecommute & will travel 30% in SW US to rig visits for software updates and/or training. Two (2) years of experience in the job offered or related. Experience must have included Working with the downhole drilling process and physical limitations of mechanical components on a rig; Development and implementation of drilling rig automation in real-time production environment using User-Interface designing tools including Ignition 7.9 and 8.1, and Jython; Database management in building SQL database for warehousing data on drilling rigs; Performing data analysis using R and Python and PowerBI to extract, transform and analyze large drilling dataset in real-time; Training personnel in front-line, service-related roles for software deployment and commissioning at drilling rigs; Use of control system, logic circuits, in order to program the PLCs using Siemens TIA software; Developing new algorithms based on case studies, theories and user stories related to downhole dysfunctions and to improve procedural compliance in operations; and Use of drilling engineering models to correct and tune existing applications including Auto-Drillers. Requires a Bachelors (or foreign educ. equiv.) Degree in Petroleum Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or closely related field
