RESPONSIBILITIES

The VP Technology Services will align our organizations technology vision and business strategy to ensure our products, systems, and support are delivered on a global scale. This will enable our organization to support over 1.4 million students every year to not only apply for post-secondary opportunities, but to do so without barriers, in service to our mission of promoting access, equity, and integrity in the college admissions process.

Achieving this will require being a strategic thought partner with influential insights that enable business agility, growth, and operational excellence. It will also require utilizing modern methods to maintain the stability of existing systems while building new capabilities in support of strategic opportunities.

A successful candidate will need to use innovative strategies to effectively lead and manage a multi-function division responsible for the engineering cohesion to effectively select, implement, secure, and operate technologies. Additionally, they will be an integral part of the Senior Leadership team, and report directly to the President & Chief Executive Officer.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

This role requires:

  • Candidates must live in the United States.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in technical area of expertise and executive leadership, including managing teams, budgets, performance management and human capital planning; preferably in a collaborative and matrixed environment.
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent relevant experience required
  • Excellent understanding and experience, along with proven results, that demonstrate successful leadership at divisional and executive levels.
  • Excellent understanding and proven experience in Enterprise Information Management.
  • Excellent understanding and proven experience in managing product support and incident management functions.
  • Credible leader and effective ambassador for the organization.
  • Proven ability to develop and coach direct reports on competencies and behaviors that are key to their success.
  • Proven ability to lead innovation and motivate cross-functional teams to achieve success demonstrating a collaborative style.
  • Ability to translate business goals into strategic technology planning and execution.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Experience leading technology delivery organizations, divisions, and/or large departments
  • Experience building software and data solutions
  • Experience working in a digital product environment
  • Experience working with cloud technology
  • Experience with contract and vendor management
  • Experience working with agile and lean methods
  • Experience with best practices required to build high-performing teams
  • Familiar with the latest versions of Angular, Python, Pyspark .Net Framework MVC, and .Net 6
  • Familiar with AWS Cloud Services such as AWS Lambda for serverless computing, AWS ECS for microservices, AWS RDS for databases like MySQL, and Ionic Framework for managing mobile apps for multiple platforms.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations as they relate to technology issues.
  • Excellent understanding of proven project delivery best practices.
  • Develop and coach direct reports in line with key competencies and behaviors.
  • Strong negotiator.
  • Professional presenter to large and senior groups.
  • A passion for higher education is a plus.
