Caxton Associates primary business is to manage client and proprietary capital through global macro hedge fund strategies. Assets are managed via a broad mandate to trade in a variety of global markets and instruments. The role: We are looking for a Quantitative Research Associate with a specialization in machine learning, large language models (LLM), AI-driven technologies and analyzing large data sets to work within a systematic macro portfolio management team. The candidate will have exposure to all aspects of the investment process, integrate advanced technologies into the investment framework, apply big data and machine learning techniques for data-driven research, and work closely with senior portfolio managers. The successful candidate must have strong Python programming skills, experience working with financial and economic data and a solid understanding of macro economics. On top of being very strong analytically, the successful candidate must be able to work without constant oversight and be able to work through ambiguous situations. Previous experience and a passion for working with LLMs, machine learning algorithms, and AI-driven techniques is essential.Requirements Deep experience building models that relate economic dynamics to asset prices Proficiency in large language models (LLM), big data techniques, and machine learning algorithms Proven ability to utilize economic and statistical theory to inform investment strategy Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to make connections across complex ideas Knowledge of portfolio construction frameworks BenefitsWith respect to New York-based applicants, the base pay range for this role is between $150,000 and $200,000 annually. The actual base pay is dependent upon several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant experience, business needs and market demands. This role may also be eligible for bonus compensation and employee benefits.
