1. Unit Name: Epstein 4. 2. Brief Unit Description: 30 bed unit, adults 18-65, we treat patient with diverse types of mental health issues (anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, dual diagnosis patients: Detox here on the unit while treating mental health issues), and some medically acute patients (IVs, CPAPs, Wound Care, diabetic care). 3. Years of Experience Required: 2 years minimum of inpatient adult psych experience. 4. Skill Sets Required: Proficient in using automatic medication dispensing system (Omni Cell); proficient in electronic health records documentation, preferably EPIC; proficient in the use of psychotropic medications and side effects; Able to assume the role of charge nurse; Able to complete admissions and discharges; Competent in the use of IV pumps; Competent in care of a diabetic patient. 5. Clinician to Patient Ratio: 1 RN to 7 or 8 patients. 6. Patient Population: Adult 18 to 65 years of age. 7. Bed Count: 30. 8. Census: 30. 9. EMR (Charting System): EPIC. 10. Floating Required: Yes. 11. Rotating Shifts Required: Yes, for Day Rotate, Minimal rotation to Nights, 7:00pm - 7:30am. No more than 2-3 shifts per time block and typically not for more than 1 or 2 time blocks (4 week blocks). 12. Certifications Required: AHA BLS, Certification in De-escalation. 13. Additional Information: We do offer AVADE training on site as well as lead EKG training. Knowledge of the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health rules and regulations: Rights of an inpatient requirements related to restraint and seclusion, legal statuses. Knowledge of law pertaining to guardianship, healthcare proxy (invoked vs confirmed) court ordered Medication.
