Job Description Summary
The Americas Project Manager for warranty will drive the warranty process and collaborate across the Americas regional teams and functions to enable execution and fulfillment of extended scope claims including BOP and HRSG.
He/She will work on implementing sustainable processes to manage warranty all the way from evaluation of customer claims to cross functional and regional coordination and eventual closure /remedy of defects.
Additionally, key priorities will include enhancing capabilities, reducing risk and accelerating operational performance. The Project Manager for warranty will ensure full integration between the estimating, cost control, planning/scheduling, and risk management within their warranty portfolio.
In this role, he/she is also expected to lead projects and initiatives with broad scope and high impact to the business. You will be responsible for major and complex assignments with long-term business implications, manage complex issues within area of expertise, and contribute to the overall business strategy. You will be responsible for project delivery, profit & loss accountability, and customer satisfaction through management of project related activities and resources. Owns/influences budgets and operating plans. The role is guided by operating policy. Works with cross functional teams. The role has a major impact on a business unit and requires high levels of evaluative judgment and operational acumen to achieve outcomes. You will be instrumental in helping to drive the transition to the Lean and Continuous Improvement culture by playing an instrumental role in Lean project identification and workout initiatives for the business unit. Further, you will be expected to demonstrate process facilitation and coaching skills as a change agent whereby influencing and energizing others.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities
  • Responsible for implementation of the operating rhythm across the region warranty projects to ensure consistent process compliance.
  • Drive productivity and Safety, Quality, Delivery, & Cost (SQDC) during the preparation & execution phases.
  • Manage the reviews and progress through dashboard/reports/presentations; assisting in establishing/delivering formal reporting arrangements on progress of the warranty projects.
  • Work with global warranty team and region teams to identify, develop and communicate best practices and sharing; and support implementation of applicable operational and financial procedures, systems and processes and partner with the global warranty team to integrate best practices.
  • Drive project and portfolio level, cost control and schedule tracking and reporting system/process and implement it with a purpose to report and control variance and improve on time delivery and financial position of project(s).
  • Drive, with regional team visibility, progress reporting, resolution and closure of Punchlist items.
  • Lead the reviews and actioning of the initial customers' claims for extended scope, BOP and HRSG.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with engineering, sourcing, fulfilment teams and region on warranty claim evaluation/financial estimate and ensure claims are channeled and approved timely.
  • Organize engineering, financial and operational reviews to ensure the adequacy of the solution, costs estimates and provisions, as applicable.
  • Understand the Performance risk ahead of time (not only at the end of the project when official PT
    are run) and partner with Performance engineering team to mitigate the risks
  • Partner with functional team leaders and KPI owners to review/analyze Bowler/KPI data each month to support the Monthly Operating Review (MOR), including problem solving.
  • Ensure Pole/Region KPIs are reviewed and analyze for root causes including pareto analysis to identify key problem areas.
  • Practice and promote Lean concept and behavior to improve business operations, specifically Monthly Operating Reviews.
  • Integrate with key members of the region team to develop warranty event schedule, plan and execute activities related to extended scope, BOP and HRSG claims, including Labor / tooling / vendor scoping and oversight.
  • May be assigned other duties or various ad hoc projects to help proactively drive our vision and align with our organization's core values.


Qualifications / Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university.
Prior experience in a leadership role, including a minimum of 5 years of significant experience in project management including turnkey project management.

  • Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
  • Microsoft Suite proficiency.

  • Has the ability to successfully negotiate change orders, vendor recoveries and claims.
  • Recognizes the need to escalate issues on time to management and able to propose solutions to highly critical issues to senior management.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and to prioritize under pressure
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to create and execute concrete action plans.
  • Strong analytical, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Understands schedule, critical path and potential schedule risks and is able to manage timely delivery of customer obligations.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Has a strong understanding of all disciplines' processes (Engineering, Sourcing, Construction, Commissioning, etc.) and is able to translate them into execution.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with demonstrated ability to analyze, influence and resolve problems, lead and execute programs/projects.
  • Promotes GE's Safety Toolkit and overall EHS standards on project team, partner and subcontractor.

The base pay range for this position is $126,100-$168,100. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for performance bonus/variable incentive compensation of 15%.
