Overall responsibility for the successful development and implementation of assigned information technology projects which require senior leadership. Proactively assumes a leadership role to create a shared vision, promote clarity of purpose, influence and motivate stakeholders and create a sense of urgency to deliver business value. Plans, manages and monitors activities of all aspects of projects, assuring the satisfaction of customers business needs and delivery of project on time and within budget. Ensures the currency, quality and integrity of information and provides customers with consistent, timely communication of project status.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership for and is accountable for the successful completion and results of major projects. Projects typically having the following characteristics are managed by this level of individual:
    • Project duration is typically two years or less
    • Project typically has inter-departmental or enterprise impact
    • Project has medium to high risk/complexity
    • Project has medium to high business value
    • Total project value is typically between $2 million and $10 million
  • Develops and manages detailed project plan to ensure that it is completed on time and within budget and meets business requirements; as well as develops, manages and tracks budgets to project completion.
  • Typically leads 5 to 15 individuals. Directs, controls and approves individuals work while on the project.
  • Responsible for all aspects of the project execution, including total budget responsibility.
  • Reviews project proposal to clarify objectives, scope, benefits and deliverables and to determine timeframe, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available business segment resources to various phases of project.
  • Leads the effort in creative approaches to problem solving and quality deliverables supporting business needs. Drives resolution.
  • Acts as the primary interface to the client for all aspects of the assigned project and communicates to client using standard reporting formats, milestones, and metrics, and produces accurate and timely status reports. Communicates at the appropriate level to each stakeholder.
  • Ensures potential changes to scope are clearly identified, communicated, evaluated, resolved and documented using standard procedures.
  • Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice to and to manage identification and problem resolution. Reviews reports prepared by project personnel and modifies/schedules/plans as required in timely manner.
  • Represents SRP to vendors, maintains appropriate vendor relationships.
  • Increases personal and team effectiveness over time. Identifies and applies improvements to existing processes based upon lessons learned.

Education

Completion of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution that prepares the employee for the assignment.

Experience

Minimum of 10 years of post-degree IT experience, with at least five years experience as an IT Project Manager.

Experience in leading projects or teams, managing people, and developing and monitoring budgets.
Needs to understand business and technology and how to integrate knowledge of each in developing solutions to meet business needs.

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
