Our client, an automotive supplier in the Huntsville area is seeking a Paint Engineer. This is a great opportunity for someone who is looking to join a dynamic organization!
Role’s Mission
Provide technical support, training and assistance to Paint Manager, Shift Leaders, Paint Technicians and Mixers, to increase their knowledge of the painting process. Encourages the growth of production indicators (FTQ, TRS and PRO) and problem-solving during production. Manage trials for new products.
Follow up on paint trials with technicians for new products lead by PPM and QE in each plant according to needs.
Follow up on daily paint shop KPIs with facilities Paint Manager.
Broadcasting and observation of internal rules in painting.
Evaluate facilities needs for direct and indirect operators
Draft visit reports to Group Painting Technology Engineer
Training of Paint Technicians and Paint Manager in:
o Working organization,
o Paintlineandsprayingsystemmanagement,
o Requirements of the quality system and environmental standards,
o Standardization of rules and documents according to group definition,
Continuous Improvement and Training
• Promoting Continuous Improvement through multilevel problem solving
• Create dedicated training program for Paint Manager, Paint technician and Maintenance department.
• Lead Lean Manufacturing action defined by the group to improve quality and productivity.
• Contribute in TAM, FTQ, TRS and PRO improvements through root cause analysis, training andimplementation of systemic measures.
Quality Management System and Environmental
• Participation in the ISO TS 16949 system by creating/ supporting internal procedures.
• Active participation in maintaining and achieving environmental goals with help of facilities team.
Additional Responsibilities
Responsible to read, understand and follow company quality, environmental and safety policies.
Participate in the development of procedures and instructions related to paint line and equipment usage
Define needs in the implementation of all procedures and instructions for paint line, equipment, mixing
rooms and organization with help of Paint Managers.
Supervise on the floor developing processes according to the technical specifications.
Works with HR and Paint Manager to evaluate and provide feedback on paint techs production team.
Makes recommendations to the Group Painting Technology Engineer and CBU to improve the production
methods, efficiency, and product quality.
Advises the changes that should be made regarding work conditions and equipment use in order to
achieve painting areas goals.
Job Specification
Communicates actions with Maintenance Department to work on TAM, group best practices, standardization of equipment cost reductions.
Participates in production problem solving, continuous improvement, QOS and ZPS teams.
Participates with Group Painting Technology Engineer in new programs (technologies, new facilities,
training, and facilities results follow up and analysis)
Works with the team to find root cause of problems
Improve paint matrix and database regarding painting skills
Participates actively to preserve the health and safety of all painting workers.
Participates in new production equipment design and acceptance.
Responsible for technical trials requested by the group, facilities, or customers.
Responsible for maintaining technical and standard appearance of paint shops.
Provide and keep updated paint usage in BOM.
Responsible for Paint Usage vs Budget %.
Responsible for meeting maintenance budgets targets.
Responsible for PM program in paint line and kitchen.
Responsible for POs and safety parts inventory stock.
Responsible for Paint Line Hazardous and Non Hazardous residues management.
Help in the definition of investment projects with painting team.
Supports yearly facilities budget.
Supports all ISO 14001 activities.
Administrative Functions
• Validate and develop a strong supplier base
• Lead workshops, audits, and customer visits in the paint area.
• Availability to work with other associated plants (remotely / possibly in person)
• Ability to create reports & presentations to upper management
• Data control and analysis of paints, chemicals, energy & water consumption in the painting area
• Responsible for fulfilling and analyzing the data of the HAPS file along with Plant Manager / Industrial
Manager / Engineering Manager.
• Review the Paint Line Capacity in a regular basis
