- Recommendation, Fabrication drawing, BOM )
- Coordination with Offshore design team, Client, Vendor, and Contractors and ensure all Design deliverables meeting with customer expectations,
- Support the construction team and provide technical guidance wherever needed.
- Project Planning & Management, Resource management & Ensuring the Utilization of the team.
- Scope understanding with the customer, and connect with all stakeholders for further proceed on the Project execution process
- Responsible for all engineering activities related to new product development initiatives/maintenance / derivatives of existing machines
- Technical support for Mechanical construction activities on field end to end. Responsible for delivery of project on time with zero defects with the support design team.
- Documenting the construction-related issues and preparation of action plans to resolve issues. Aligning vendor tasks to deliver defect-free installation of the machine.
- Applies broad knowledge of engineering principles and practices to project engineering. Makes decisions independently concerning problems within the discipline on the project. Represents the discipline on the project and with the client to resolve technical questions and as required to coordinate work.
- Prepares and oversees work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget, and manages implementation and performance accordingly.
- Reviews and approves key engineering drawings and calculations and bid summaries. Facilitates technical discussions with third parties (client, suppliers, regulators) and coordinates with client representatives to obtain approval of drawings/documents for different phases of project.
- Conduct IQ, OQ, VAT.
Qualification: - The client, a large manufacturing company, is looking for a contract Mechanical Designer with 5+ years of experience to provide design support for capital projects across more than 50 facilities in North America, ranging in age from new to 100 years.
- Individual will report directly to the mechanical design manager and work closely with technical engineers, project managers, and plant personnel to develop digital project models and drawings.
- This mechanical design need is part of the corporate engineering group primarily located in downtown Chicago but working from home due to COVID.
- The candidate should be able to commute to Chicago at least part time for collaboration, training, and transfer of large datasets, particularly point clouds.
- The typical project starts with the development of a 3D model showing relevant building and process systems.
- The designer will model and place equipment, design connections, and identify relevant structural features.
