The Music Teacher (Curriculum & Professional Development)
will be a full-time teaching position. The candidate will
directly report to and will work closely with the Owner of Sarah
Walker Studios, a music education and music performing studio that
offers private and group music instruction classes and books
musicians for gigs throughout Mississippi.

The music teacher will help further the mission of Sarah
Walker Studios “Making Music Fabulous, Flexible and Fun for
Everyone” by serving as a member of the leadership team to foster
and develop top-notch music programs, instrument labs and schoolwide music enrichment courses to ensure every child, regardless of socio-economic status, receives quality music education in order to reach their fullest potential. Below are some of the duties and requirements for the position.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Understanding of music pedagogy instruction and curriculum
Knowledge of specific musical repertoire and genres • Strong
communication and interpersonal skills • Strong class management and leadership skills • Ability to inspire students and others to drive for excellence and impact in their roles • Ability to handle
conflicts before they arise • Computer literate, including MS
Office Suite • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, small to midsized organization as part of a collaborative environment •
Ability to multi-task • Mission-driven; team player; initiative taker. Establish expectations for program-wide quality, teaching approach; pedagogy.

Develop training materials with staff • Maintain communication with owner on updates to Personal Professional Development • Provide updates on emerging music education • Ensure curriculum is culturally informed.

Curriculum
Develop curriculum materials and classroom etiquette for Violin
Karate, Student Group, Student Private, Online, Adult Private,
Adult Group and Summer Lessons • Update curriculum resources
based on best practices and research in music education. • Stay
up-to-date on music education

Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education, Music Performance, Pedagogy instruction or related field.
