DC SCORES is hiring a Multimedia Communications Manager to capture and share the vibrant stories of the DC SCORES community through photography, videography, and graphic design. This role reports to the Senior Director of Communications. This role is pivotal in representing DC SCORES externally, especially on social media platforms. The ideal candidate is a compassionate, organized, youth-focused creative who is deeply committed to ethical storytelling and is always seeking innovative ways to represent the communities we work with. We believe in the power of storytelling and aim to represent our communities with authenticity, respect, and creativity.

Key Responsibilities

Photography & Videography:

  • Capture high-quality photographs and videos during DC SCORES events, programs, and other relevant activities.
  • Edit and post-process photos and videos to ensure they align with DC SCORES brand and messaging.
  • Organize and maintain a digital library of multimedia assets.

Graphic Design:

  • Design basic graphics for various platforms, including social media, websites, and print materials.
  • Collaborate with the communications team to ensure consistency in branding and messaging across all designs.

Social Media Management:

  • With the Senior Director of Communications, plan, curate, and schedule multimedia content for DC SCORES social media platforms and website.

Ethical Storytelling:

  • Ensure that all multimedia content respects the dignity of the subjects.
  • Obtain necessary permissions and consents before capturing or sharing any content.
  • Collaborate with DC SCORES community members to co-create content that truly represents their stories.

Collaboration & Teamwork:

  • Work closely with the communications team, other departments, and partners to align multimedia strategies with organizational goals and wider content strategy.
  • Participate in team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and workshops.

Requirements

  • A passion for DC SCORES mission and work in the world.

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in photography, videography, and/or graphic design.
  • Photography & Videography Skills: Able to capture high-quality images and videos that tell compelling stories.
  • Basic Graphic Design Experience: Proficient in basic design tools and software (ie. Canva), with an eye for aesthetics and detail.
  • Multimedia Editing: Skilled in using multimedia editing software like Adobe Creative Suite to enhance and finalize content.
  • Ethical Storytelling: Demonstrates sensitivity and respect in representing subjects, ensuring their dignity and values are upheld.
  • Community Representation: Ensures that content genuinely and respectfully represents the communities DC SCORES serves.
  • Social Media: Good understanding of social media platforms and their content nuances.
  • Time Management: Efficiently manages multiple projects and meets deadlines.
  • Attention to Detail: Ensures accuracy and quality in all outputs.
  • Innovative Thinking: Consistently comes up with fresh, unique ideas for content.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing environments and keep up with the latest trends in multimedia and social media landscapes.
  • Team Collaboration: Works harmoniously with team members, valuing their input and expertise.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Builds and maintains positive relationships with community members and other stakeholders.
  • Effective Communication: Ability to convey ideas effectively to a variety of audiences.
  • Active Listening: Pays close attention to feedback and collaborates effectively with team members and community stakeholders.
  • Extra credit (not necessary, but the following are a plus):
    • Passion for soccer or spoken word/poetry.
    • Spanish or Amharic fluency.
  • Availability/Travel: This position requires a few planned late weeknight and weekend commitments. In addition, this position will require regular travel throughout D.C. This position must be comfortable with daily travel to program sites around all 8 Wards of the city via car or public transportation with all required equipment.

Currently, DC SCORES is operating in a hybrid work model. During our busy programming seasons, our staff members work at least four days per week in-office.
