Medical Billing Manager
We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced Medical Billing Manager to join our client's dynamic team and help us maintain the highest standards of financial integrity in healthcare billing. The Medical Billing Manager is responsible for overseeing the medical billing operations. This role involves managing a team of billing specialists, ensuring accurate and timely billing of medical services, and maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, in-depth knowledge of medical billing processes, and a commitment to maintaining the financial health of our organization.
Duties of the Medical Billing Manager
- Oversee and manage a team of medical billing specialists, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high-quality performance and achievement of departmental objectives.
- Continuously assess and improve billing processes to streamline operations, increase efficiency, and reduce billing errors.
- Stay current with healthcare industry regulations, billing guidelines, and coding standards (e.g., CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS), ensuring adherence to all legal and ethical billing practices.
- Monitor the entire revenue cycle, from claim submission to payment processing, and implement strategies to expedite collections and reduce accounts receivable aging.
- Oversee the submission and tracking of insurance claims, identifying and resolving claim rejections, denials, and underpayments.
- Conduct regular audits to maintain billing accuracy and compliance, identifying discrepancies and implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Generate comprehensive billing reports, analyze financial data, and present key performance metrics to upper management for informed decision-making.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and billing software vendors to address billing-related inquiries, resolve issues, and ensure smooth communication channels.
- Keep the billing team updated on new billing regulations, coding changes, and industry best practices through training sessions and educational resources.
- Assess and implement medical billing software and systems to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and integration with other relevant healthcare systems.
Requirements of the Medical Billing Manager
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in medical billing, with 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Profound knowledge of medical billing procedures, CPT, ICD-10 coding, and healthcare reimbursement methodologies.
- Familiarity with electronic medical billing systems and software.
- Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, HIPAA compliance, and insurance industry practices.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make strategic decisions.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
- Problem-solving skills to address billing discrepancies, denials, and other challenges effectively.
- Professionalism and the ability to maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive patient and financial information.
Compensation of the Medical Billing Manager
- $50-60k dependent on education and experience
