Job Description:

The Medical Biller is responsible for all facets of medical billing and accounts receivable management including but not limited to Eligibility and Benefits verification, Prior Authorization, Charge entry, Clearinghouse/Payer rejections, Payment posting (Manual & ERAs), Denial Management and follow-up in accordance with practice protocol.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

• Accurately enter and submit claims for services provided to insurance companies and government programs such as Medicare and Medicaid
• Review claims for accuracy and completeness before submission
• Obtaining Prior authorizations as required
• Reworking any payer and/or clearinghouse rejections, posting payments (Manual & ERAs), tracking ERAs and EFT payments.
• Follow up on unpaid claims and denials to ensure timely reimbursement
• Communicate with insurance companies and government programs to resolve claim issues
• Provide support to patients with billing inquiries, including explanation of benefits and payment arrangements
• Maintain patient billing records in compliance with HIPAA regulations
• Monitor and report on billing metrics, such as days in accounts receivable and claim denial rates
• Stay up-to-date on changes to insurance regulations and coding requirements

Requirements

Experience/Qualification:

• Associate or bachelors degree preferred
• 3+ years of experience in medical billing, preferably in a healthcare setting
• Knowledge of medical billing codes, terminology, and insurance requirements
• Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) and billing software
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Understanding of HIPAA regulations and ability to maintain confidentiality
• Certification in medical billing and coding preferred
• Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
