Job Title: Marketing Manager, HALO USA

Location: Washington DC

Position: Full-time, Exempt

Salary: $85k-$95k, dependant on experience

Responsible to: Head of Development and Communications, HALO Trust USA

Responsible for: HALO USA Communications Associate(s)

Job Purpose: This role will build and execute communication and marketing plans to drive growth for HALOs business objectives, and be a key contributor to the growth and success of our communications and marketing activities. The role reports to the Head of Development and Communications at HALO Trust USA and coordinates the marketing and communications strategy and plan of action with the HALO USA Leadership and the UK Communications Team (HQ).

Were looking for a natural communicator, resourceful and efficient team player with a proven track record in marketing across digital and traditional channels. The role requires strong creative skills, excellent copywriting, and proven experience in using analytics and metrics to inform and power successful campaigns. It will suit someone who enjoys working in a stimulating, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plans and executes a digital marketing and communications strategy and plan of action tailored to support the annual business goals of HALO USA while aligning with the evolving global comms strategy.
  • Responsible and accountable for meeting and driving specific outcomes and actions among targeted audiences.
  • Responsible for creating high-quality content for key donors and policy audiences to increase US public awareness of HALO and the humanitarian demining efforts.
  • Provides exceptional communication and marketing services by developing timelines to meet project commitments and ensuring deliverables are on time.
  • Works cross-functionally and champions the development of integrated, multi-channel digital campaigns that influence external audiences (e.g. donors, advocates, and the general public).
  • Leads organization-wide campaigns for fundraising and advocacy, provides analyses and recommendations on digital strategies, segmentation of audiences, and content creation for various digital platforms, and leads efforts to identify successful outcomes for business units.
  • Tracks and measures results and KPIs and adjusts tactics, accordingly.
  • Leads on the contractual communications outputs of the US government and private donors.
  • Develops stewardship communications for HALOs top philanthropic strategic partners, governmental and policy champions, (working in collaboration with the Global Head of Brand, Content & Partnership Comms), grassroots/grasstops advocates, and other stakeholders.
  • Delivers rapid, reactive communications in an efficient and strategic manner.
  • Supports Congressional advocacy goals by developing and implementing digital communication tools to support grassroots advocate recruitment and engagement and revamping the advocacy content on digital channels (e.g. social media, websites, digital Action Center) and with external partners that promote campaigns.
  • Manages an annual social media plan and roadmap to align organizational goals and grow digital channels reach and engagement and manage expense budget and external vendors.
  • Provides day-to-day support, supervision, and technical guidance for the HALO USA Communication Associate(s) and intern.
  • Keeps HALO USA ahead of the curve by monitoring social trends
  • Serves as an expert on marketing best practices and provides training and consultation to staff.
  • Collaborates with HALO UK colleagues on organizational-wide initiatives to drive improvements in processes, tools and resources that will enhance efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in marketing.
  • 7+ years of experience in marketing roles in the private sector, higher education, or large international humanitarian organizations.
  • Strong portfolio of experience with philanthropic and cause-oriented advocacy campaign design and campaign management.
  • Experience with identifying, analyzing, and engaging target audiences.
  • Experience managing social media accounts and social media ads for audience growth for public donations and advocacy.
  • Experience with advocacy activation platform management, and knowledge of grassroots advocacy digital and in-person tactics and strategies (including paid ads).
  • Excellent verbal and written marketing and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Canva, InDesign, large listservs and contact databases, video editing programs, and other communication platforms a plus.
  • Familiar with developing and applying communication styles and standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and strong work ethic
  • Outstanding planning and project management skills

The HALO Trust USA employee benefits for full-time employees include:

  • Vacation Time: 25 days (5 weeks) paid vacation (PTO) accrued at 16.667 hours per month.
  • Sick Leave: 5 days (1 week) paid Sick-Leave. Sick Leave cannot be carried-over to the next year.
  • Holidays: HALO USA observes all USA Federal holidays.
  • Savings Plan: A 401(k) retirement savings plan is offered to our employees, but managed entirely through our Payroll provider, Insperity. HALO USA will match up to 5% of an employees contributed monthly savings to their 401(k) account.
