Framatome is seeking a Manager I, Technical Operations position for our Mill Ridge Road location in Lynchburg, VA. Under broad supervision, perform as the Technical Lead and Point of Contact for the IBO BWR Services organization.



 



Primary responsibilities will include: 




  • Provide technical oversight and support for IPTE briefs and maintenance activities; monitor installation of materials and equipment to ensure conformance with drawings and specifications.

  • Perform oversight duties as In-Vessel Visual Inspection (IVVI) manager.

  • Troubleshoots systems & tooling, performs predictive and root-cause analysis, and determines and initiates corrective actions.

  • Creates, performs and verifies preventive maintenance programs of assigned tooling and components.

  • Responsible for initiating design changes to tooling and verifying the execution of design changes.

  • Establish testing programs for qualification of Framatome and site owned tooling.

  • Perform detailed inspection of reactor components & tools and recommend overhaul work where necessary.

  • Prepares cost estimates and reviews project design and engineering bills of materials to ensure completeness.

  • Create, review, and revise Framatome tooling refurb procedures and drawings.

  • Fill in as a shift supervisor for field activities, both during outage and pre-outage activities.



 



This position will require the individual to step in and fill the roles above, in addition to managing the group. The manager will also be responsible for:




  • Preparing cost estimates and technical write-ups for contract bids, as well as supporting on-site customer proposal meetings

  • Serving as the customer Point of Contact for technical issues within the IBO-P organization.

  • Providing input for R&D and capital budgets, including project descriptions & estimates

  • Review Tooling designs and solutions from an independent engineering perspective

  • Redesign to cost projects

  • Serving as the Manager Point of Contact for the Shift Supervisors and perform the personnel management tasks associated with this team.



 



All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity.  Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position.




  • BS in Engineering or hard sciences (ex. Physics) or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree, plus 12-14 years of engineering experience. An advanced degree may be substituted for related experience.

  • Demonstrated mechanical and/or electrical aptitude.

  • Experience in Non-Destructive Examination processes

  • Ability to interpret drawings, diagrams, schematics, and procedures.

  • Good computer skills

  • Action Oriented, Integrity and Trust, Problem Solving, Communication Skills, Functional/Technical Skills, Dealing with Ambiguity, Customer Focus, Priority Setting



 



The following requirements are desired and will be used to differentiate all candidates who apply for this position.




  • BWR In-Vessel Visual Inspection experience strongly desired

  • Convey technical concepts in an easily understood manner. Clear and concise verbal and written communications.

  • Previous supervisory or management experience desired

  • Strong people management skills, with the ability to manage a very diverse group of personalities.

  • Strong debugging, organization, planning, and project management skills; ability to coordinate others to accomplish objectives.  

  • Must be able to “think-on-the-fly”, sometimes in high stress environments (i.e. while on critical path).

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and creative ability; self-motivated; strong technical writing skills.

  • Must be able to adapt to the personalities of the crews and develop relationships with the field workers.
