Implement purchasing activities in compliance with mandated requirements; overseeing daily activities; responding to a range of inquiries regarding processes pertaining to Maintenance, Repair or Overhaul purchases, bid status; and achieving department objectives and goals within budget.



 



Duties and Responsibilities



 




  • Involved with procuring goods and services, such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, etc.

  • Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.

  •  Estimates values according to knowledge of market price.

  • Determine method of procurement, quantity, price, timeframe and extent of purchase.

  • Prepare purchase orders or bid requests.

  • Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with quality control, users, vendors, and others to determine source of issue and follow through to completion to either return item to vendor for credit or initiate deviation request through Engineering.

  • Must be able to determine when orders need expediting, knowledge of quotation process, and handle backorder issues by other means of procurement if necessary.

  • Compile data from a wide variety of sources such as vendors, staff, etc., to analyze issues, ensure compliance with a wide variety of purchasing policies and procedures and/or monitoring purchasing processes.

  • Issue purchase orders as needed for completing the purchasing process in accordance with established procedures.

  • Prepare written materials and electronic information for the purpose of documenting activities, providing reference, conveying information, and complying with established financial, legal and/or administrative requirements.

  • Participate in unit meetings, in-service training, workshops, etc., for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.



 



Qualifications



 




  • High School Degree

  • 2-5 years of purchasing experience required.

  • MRP/MPS Experience preferred

  • Working knowledge or ability to understand Purchase Price Variance

  • Ability to learn computerized inventory and tracking systems.

  • Competent with MS Excel.

  • Capable of completing projects requiring analysis.

  • Ability to work with multiple discipline projects.

  • Good skills in Microsoft Office.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and read/interpret documents.

  • Requires high degree of professional integrity, ethics and confidentiality.

  • Ability to communicate with diverse groups.

  • Plan, organize and meet deadlines and schedules.

  • Ability to work as part of a team
