Our esteemed partner is currently seeking a dedicated Loss Control Specialist in Boston, MA. Responsibilities: - Conduct comprehensive reviews of moderately complex account information, including loss drivers, previous recommendations, and underwriting files.
- Execute on-site or virtual loss control surveys for both current and potential policyholders, demonstrating a proficient understanding of exposures and controls across various industries.
- Assess and analyze exposure potential and existing controls.
- Deliver training and on-site loss control surveys, collaborating with policyholders on their operations, claims trends, and improvement recommendations.
- Prepare detailed risk improvement reports for underwriting, addressing identified exposures in property, commercial auto, liability, and workers' compensation.
- Provide in-depth explanations of business operations, hazards, and controls associated with coverages.
- Develop written recommendations for policyholders to manage hazards and prevent or reduce exposure to insured losses.
Requirements - Bachelor's degree, preferably in safety, engineering, industrial safety, fire protection, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Two years of relevant loss control or safety experience, including the successful completion of Risk Improvement training or equivalent.
- Understanding of nationally recognized standards and codes, including OSHA, DOT, and NFPA.
- Travel is required; a valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle report per company standards is required if traveling.
- Related advanced degree or designation preferred, such as certified safety professional, CPCU, or relevant niche market certifications.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong ability to understand and evaluate risk.
- Knowledge of industrial, construction, fire, and commercial automotive safety.
- Ability to identify and visualize potential loss exposures.
- Knowledge of relevant niche markets preferred.
- Ability to maintain confidential information.
- Excellent customer relation skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
Candidates who meet the following requirements will be eligible for a Senior role: - Bachelor's degree in safety, engineering, industrial safety, fire protection, or related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Five years of relevant loss control or safety experience.
- Successful completion of Risk Improvement training within six months of accepting the role or equivalent.
- Related master's degree or designations preferred, such as Certified Safety Professional, CPCU, or relevant market certifications.
