This Position:
We are seeking a mission-driven Guidance, Navigation, and Controls Engineer. As part of the this team, you will design, analyze, implement, and test the Guidance, Navigation, and Control algorithms. You will be responsible for system control architecture, flight stability and controls tuning, analyze linear and non-linear controls, GN&C software development and test, as well as, maintaining simulations.
In this role, you will be self-driven, come up with solutions to the problems you run into, and lead a team for the overall System Architecture, Design, Integration, and Testing to ensure the highest quality product.
This role:
- Work across this company's programs, with a focus on a moon mission
- Coordinate with leadership team on staffing allocation and resources
- Technical contributor to challenging engineering problems
- Key decision maker into the moon mission technology design, build, and test
- Provide engineering expertise and leadership
- Provide mentorship and guidance to the technical team
- Develop hardware architecture
- Select flight computers, solar panels, and power system hardware
- Select / develop peripheral boards including support for 802.11ac, RS-422, Ethernet, CCSDS
- Work with software team on board support packages
- Ensure appropriate reliability and fault tolerance

Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience with C, C++, Python, MATLAB
- Navigation sensors/controls (GPS, star trackers, LIDAR, IMU, etc.)
- Demonstrated competence with classical and modern controls design, analysis, and simulation approaches
Education:
- Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of experience in systems, software, aerospace engineering or field related to GN&C responsibilities.
- OR Masters degree and 3+ years of experience
- OR PhD and 2+ years of experience
Requirements: Must be a “U.S. person” as defined by the ITAR (22 CFR §120.15)
Must work out of Mojave, CA
