Job Description: Junior Estimator


Location: Suffolk County, New York
Company: Leading Heavy Construction Firm
Position: Junior Estimator / Junior Office Engineer

Our Client is a prominent heavy construction company specializing in large-scale civil engineering projects throughout Suffolk County and the surrounding areas. We pride ourselves on our commitment to excellence, innovation, and sustainability in the construction industry. We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Junior Estimator to join our dynamic team.


Responsibilities:



  • Plan Take-Offs and Bid Preparation: Perform detailed quantity take-offs from construction plans and assist in the preparation of preliminary bids.

  • Subcontractor Coordination: Request and compile pricing from subcontractors, presenting findings to senior estimating staff for review.

  • Bid Management: Download and coordinate bid proposals, maintain bid calendars, and ensure timely submission of bids.

  • Pre-Bid Meetings: Attend pre-bid meetings with project owners to gain a thorough understanding of project requirements and scopes of work.

  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of all bid-related activities and prepare reports as needed.


Qualifications:



  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in the civil engineering or construction sector.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Insite is required. Experience with Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Heavy Bid software is highly desirable. Proficient in Math.

  • Education: Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred, but equivalent work experience will be considered.

  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with subcontractors, project owners, and team members.

  • Detail-Oriented: Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently.

  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, supporting senior staff and contributing to project success.
