Location

This position is a full-time, hybrid-based position which will be located in our Boulder or Louisville, Colorado office.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Vice President, Quantum Components, the newly hired sales engineer will be the primary technical point of contact for our customers and will support the Sales team by providing engineering technical leadership and support to customers on product application through the quote process. This is done by gathering critical-to-application technical information through our qualification process to develop solutions from our product portfolio of standard and custom products that solve the customers needs.

Responsibilities

  • Work with our customers to clearly understand technical specifications, requirements, and other criteria and develop product solutions that meet their needs to help Sales qualify new opportunities across our product portfolio of standard and custom products
  • Lead discussions and negotiations on technical specifications, requirements, and product delivery through the quote process; Develop accurate information and clearly understand and document customer needs
  • Work with product management, engineering, production manufacturing, and procurement to develop accurate costing, pricing, and lead times for all customer quotes, developing project plans where appropriate
  • Support the sales team and international distribution partners by creating quote packages, including specifications, drawings, and acceptance test documentation
  • Primary point of contact to troubleshoot performance issues with customers and support the RMA process for product returns, partnering with Quality and Production teams to resolve issues promptly
  • By responding to prospects and existing customers, you will help ensure companys products and support services meet or exceed customer expectations
  • Participates in customer support meetings, sales process development, voice of customer data collection and other technical sales activities

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelors Degree in AMO physics, engineering, or similar field required; Candidates with a PhD in AMO physics that have a desire to work closely with customers in a commercial role are encouraged to apply
  • A minimum of 1-3+ years' experience in atomic optical physics, quantum product technology or related engineering field with knowledge in optics, opto-mechanics, optical coatings, laser systems or industrial manufacturing of advanced photonics products
  • Prior customer-facing experience including demonstrated success in helping to grow bookings and sales revenue in the same or similar role working with customers from the academic research market and commercial OEM companies is desired
  • Passion for selling, learning about our customers needs and challenges and an ability to cultivate and grow collaborative relationships with the Sales team and internal Production Engineering and Quality teams
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a startup environment, self-motivated, and enjoys working directly with customers and comfortable dealing with challenges technical, commercial, customer and working to resolve to the benefit of all parties
  • Strong understanding of how to read prints/drawings and analyze technical data and information related to quantum experiments involving atoms and ions, optics, lasers, and complex optical systems
  • Experience with ERP/CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) and similar enterprise software platforms
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and effectively, and through a collaborative partnership model, help Sales to provide timely support to customers; Proactive engagement with other internal functions (Product Management, Engineering, Production, Quality, Supply Chain, Shipping)
  • Highly proficient in MS Office tools, with experience using SolidWorks or other similar software tools is ideal
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively share and communicate information with technical and non-technical staff
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new and complex topics quickly
  • Demonstrated ability to work and communicate with all levels of an organization in English; Professional-level communication skills, including verbal, written, and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work comfortably in a highly collaborative, cross-functional, team-oriented, and matrixed environment
  • Desire and demonstrated ability to thrive and adapt and produce results in a fluid, dynamic, and fast-paced environment
  • Passion for solving complex problems and challenges in a highly technical and scientific environment
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to effectively prioritize work activities and tasks
  • Ability to travel domestically up to 15% to visit customers and attend events
  • This role requires that you do not require sponsorship or a work visa transfer

Benefits

The targeted salary range for this role is$100,000 to $140,000plus commissions.
