OBJECTIVE

In the role of Human Resources Generalist, you'll be responsible for supporting management and employees in all things HR related including employee relation matters, current employment laws, trainings, disciplinary action and onboarding. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Deliver HR support and services to foster a positive culture within City Wide; aligning HR disciplines with organizational goals and strategy.
• Work closely with the City Wide Recruiter to manage applicant flow, alternative recruiting sources, responsible for up to 30% recruiting.
• Develop and implement effective employee retention efforts and educating management in effective retention strategies; perform all exit interviews.
• Maintains daily HR activities effectively in accordance with City Wide HR policies (leaves of absences and harassment prevention), procedures, and organizational expectations.
• Oversee and administer new hire onboarding program and new hire orientations, including basic janitorial training program.
• Conduct employee and supervisory training including benefits, policies and procedures and prevention of harassment and discrimination.
• Lead change management initiatives by creating awareness, understanding, buy-in and influencing operational changes Implement City Wides culture and our Why.
• Manage unemployment claims; documentation, reporting and training.
• Administer and monitor City Wides performance and employee recognition programs.
• Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment laws.

Requirements

• Bachelors Degree in Human Resources or related field highly desired.
• 3+years Human Resources experience and proven experience recruiting, required.
• Experience in a service-based environment, highly preferred.
• Knowledge and understanding of Federal, State and Local employment/labor laws required.
• Union experience preferred.
• Ability to communicate and influence individuals and groups to gain buy-in and acceptance of new ideas and approaches.
• Proven ability to take initiative and build strong and productive personal relationships with various levels of management.
• Proficient literacy with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
• Working knowledge of HRIS, Payroll and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated analytical, negotiating, problem-solving skills and highly detail orientation (ability to follow-up).
• Maintain the highest degree of confidentiality and professional discretion.
• Successfully complete and pass a background check and drug screen.
