A DAY IN THE LIFE

The estimator is responsible for the preparation of bids including surveys, take offs, labor and material pricing, coordination with vendors and subcontractors and RFIs for both plan and spec and design build projects. This list is not exhaustive or all-inclusive but is intended to be used as a guide.

Initiative, decisiveness, tact, integrity, judgment, and technical knowledge are essential to achieving departmental and corporate goals, with the majority of daily contacts being with 5 Seasons Mechanical, LLC. employees and departmental customers.

Duties Include

• Survey potential projects and identify best solutions for pricing.
• Evaluation of vendor and subcontractor proposals to ensure compliance with the job requirements and specifications.
• Estimating HVAC projects and change orders to comply with corporate profit guidelines and project requirements.
• Provide conceptual design and pricing to support conceptual design for HVAC
• Overseeing all aspects of pre-construction of projects to ensure optimal customer service, efficient use of equipment and time, and meeting departmental strategic and budgetary goals.
• Perform sales calls in support of initiating work for the construction department.
• Design of HVAC systems and the controls that support them.
• Coordinating the efficient use and allocation of the coop s time.
• Working with suppliers on pricing, performance, reliability, and availability.
• Performing all duties as directed by the department manager.
  
  

Job Qualifications

• One or more years of combined practical and academic experience in the full range of HVAC sub-fields including digitizer takeoff and estimating software.
• Ability to successfully direct and coordinate the requirements of the customers, employees, outside suppliers, delivery schedules, and subcontractors.
• Ability to negotiate with suppliers and vendors to ensure prompt and timely delivery at the lowest possible price.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Skill and ability in promoting and selling projects and contracts on the phone and face to face.
• Ability to comprehend and implement applicable HVAC related federal, state, and local governmental laws, codes, and regulations.
• Current driver s license.
• Ability to represent the company at HVAC related social activities.
• Familiarity with the following computer programs; Stack, Procore, Excel, Word, Access, Outlook, and Job Cost Accounting software.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and participate in drug free workplace program
