Will work onsite in Schenectady, NY - Will be testing materials and furnaces. Experience with various furnaces preferred.
- MUST HAVE: Mechanical aptitude, Machinery/Machine Shop experience and to know how things work. Decent Computer skills involving EXCEL.
Responsibilities - Set up & conduct experiments to test material properties
- Prepare samples for testing in furnaces & burner rigs
- Requires delicate work to preserve sample details
- Perform daily inspections & documentation of samples in test
- Maintain laboratory equipment and inventory of consumable, replacement parts
- Package post test samples for characterization at other locations and/or external suppliers
Skills - Fluent in Excel
- PID controller programming
- Able to learn software applications specific to lab measurement and data recording equipment
- Operating and maintaining test equipment
- Maintain detailed records of test conditions
- Operation of laboratory analysis equipment (hardness testers, microscopes)
description - Performs diverse and complex assignments in support of test and evaluation.
- Assignments may include, but are not limited to: set up and running of data acquisition equipment for tests, carrying out experiments, troubleshooting, and reporting/documenting results of tests and measures, lead compliance and quality activities, and train other team members.
- Key responsibilities/essential functions include: Utilize initiative and independent judgment, construct, evaluate and improve complex engineering models using conceptual descriptions and ideas.
- Anticipate troubleshooting needs and perform complex troubleshooting encompassing multiple variables and unknowns to achieve root cause analysis and problem resolution.
- Recommend, instruct, design and conduct experiments and diagnostic tests to develop conclusions and solutions.
- May lead technician teams in developing software and hardware evaluations, to implement plans using knowledge of the product, system operation, intermodule interactions, complex engineering tools, and interactive software tools as required.
- Utilize advanced technical communications throughout the new product cycle to improve internal models and/or externally sourced components in terms of system performance, reliability, functionality, and serviceability.
Required Qualifications: - Associates degree(or local equivalent) or a High School diploma (or local equivalent) and at least 5 years technical experience (link removed)
- At least 3 year of technical experience
- Demonstrated intuitive and advanced proficiency to logically troubleshoot up to system level, using identifiable problem solving techniques and previous experience
- Ability to draw accurate conclusions from test data, malfunctions, or deviations, and coordinate implementation of corrections to the existing design or process
- High proficiency to interpret and explain complex technical information.
- Demonstrated proficiency to utilize and modify computerized work systems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work with little to no direction
- Demonstrate an ongoing effort to maintain knowledge of current technology
- Ability to communicate using local language
