WHO WE ARE

The Road Home has been a leader in the fight to end homelessness for 100 years (1923-2023). We provide low-barrier emergency shelters, supportive services, and housing-first-minded rental assistance that helps individuals and families step out of homelessness and back into the community.We are seeking compassionate and empathetic individuals who are interested in making a difference in the lives of others and their community.

JOB SUMMARY

The Road Homeisseekingahighlymotivatedindividualwhoiscommitted,compassionate, willing tobe challenged, and whowantstomake adifference inthe livesof others.This position providestrauma-informed, person-centeredoutreach services to unsheltered homeless familiesin Salt Lake County. Outreach efforts are centered to connect clients with supportive services with the goal of helping them transition from unsheltered homelessness into housingin our community.

Administrative Support Worker

Job Duties

  1. Seek out, engage, and support individuals in need of services alongside outreach team members.
  2. Maintain positive, professional interactionswithemergency services, fire, police, neighborhood residents,staff at community resource centers,and referral sources.
  3. Provide direct Trauma Informed Care case management services toclients, including crisis intervention, ongoing assessments, goal setting, creative problem solving,basic needs services,agency and community resource utilization, andconnecting to housingprograms.
  4. Provideclients withreferrals to community resources.
  5. Attend mandatory weekly staff/staffing meetings and other meetings asassigned.
  6. Maintain records, casemanagement notes,incident reportsand statistical data as required and participate in research and/or special projects as needed.
  7. Assist and promote community education, response, and problem solving around homelessness issues.
  8. Maintain registration and cleanliness of agency vehicle. Keep vehicle stocked with basic need items and submit gas receiptsto supervisorin a timelymanner.

Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Lived, work or volunteer experience preferred, or a degree in a related field.
  • Experience working with diverse and vulnerable populationsrequired, including experience with mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Knowledge of homeless populations and community housing resources preferred.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong computer skills, with an attention to detail.
  • Ability to be culturally responsive and approach guests who are from different racial, socioeconomic, religious, and ethnic communities with respect and openness.
  • Ability to multitask and make sound decisions in demanding and unpredictable situations whileremainingcalm, professional, and Trauma Informed.
  • The ability to set andmaintaingood boundariesandutilizeassertive engagement skillswith clients.
  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate as well as the ability to listen actively and empathetically.
  • Willing to be a proactive member of a dynamic andcollaborativeteam.
  • Ability to accept direction and constructive feedback from Supervisoras well as evaluate own performance to increase effectiveness as a Case Manager.
  • Strong belief of the Housing First model. Willingness toinitiateand have ongoing conversations withclientsabout housing.
  • Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to diverse populations. Ability to contribute to the agencys commitment to enhancing awareness and appreciation of diverse ethnic and cultural heritages.
  • Must have a clean driving record and be insurable by our agency insurance carrier.
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.

Physical and Equipment Requirements

  • Ability to perform outreach in extreme weather conditions, including summer heat and winter snow; be willing and able to perform outreach on foot approximately up to1-2 miles per day while wearing a backpack with supplies.
  • Abilityto lift25 lbs.
  • Theabilityand license to drive an agency vehicle.
