We are seeking a Data Modeler/ Data Architect located at Carlsbad, CA who can help us solve our data democratization. As a Data Modeler/Data Architect, you will work closely with the Data Science and BI Platform team on variety of new developments and/or enhancement projects to build the enterprise level data platform for both traditional data warehouse BI reporting and data science needs. You are expected to enable large-scale use cases and drive the adoption of AWS Data Lake and Analytics Solution for our data processing platforms, including Oracle Exadata database (11g or later), AWS Redshift, S3-based Data Lake cloud technologies and supporting popular BI reporting and data science tools. Key Responsibilities Play a key role in client's Data Science Cloud strategy Work with IT and business leadership teams on developing Data warehouse cloud migration solutions. Engineer high performance and high availability hybrid (cloud and on-premise) data platform for both traditional data warehouse BI reporting and data science needs. Participate in requirements definition, analysis and the design of logical and physical data models. Leading data discovery discussions with Business in JAD sessions and map the business requirements to logical and physical data modeling solutions. Conduct data model reviews with project team members Capture technical metadata through data modeling tools Ensure database designs efficiently support BI and end user requirements Drive continual improvement and enhancement of existing systems. Collaborate with ETL/Data Engineering teams to create data process pipelines for data ingestion and transformation. Collaborate with Data Architects for data model management, documentation, and version control. Maintain expertise and proficiency in the various application areas Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and standards
Required Skills - Strong data analysis and data profiling skills
- Strong Conceptual, Logical and Physical data modeling for VLDB Data warehouse
- Hands on experience with modeling tool such as ERWIN or another industry standard tool
- Fluent in both normalized and dimensional model disciplines and techniques
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in Oracle Database (11g or above).
- Hands experience with Oracle SQL and PL/SQL
- Implementation and tuning experience of Data Warehousing platforms, including knowledge of Data Warehouse Schema Design, Query Tuning and Optimization, and Data Migration and Integration.
- Ability to troubleshoot and identify performance bottlenecks for Oracle and Redshift Databases.
- Experience with AWS Redshift design and management.
- Exposure to ETL tool Informatica and Spark (Python or Scala) or other industry leading tools
- Exposure to AWS Cloud technologies, mainly on the services of VPC, EC2, S3, DMS and Glue.
- Ability to learn and maintain knowledge of multiple application areas

- Ability to work independently and in conjunction with a team. Takes ownership of work assignments and manages them to completion
