Requirements You are a driven individual with 5+ years of hands-on experience with data center hardware, networks, tools, and operating systems. You are excited by the opportunity to help build a world-class product. Specifically: - 5+ years of data center industry experience
- Experience building, deploying, operating, and maintaining IT systems in large scale data center environments
- Server hardware, network hardware, L1 network connectivity
- Linux systems (RHEL/Rocky, Ubuntu)
- General understanding of electronics and electrical components and systems
- Testing and benchmarking hardware components and systems
- Thorough and diligent in documentation and process
Roles and Responsibilities - Take new hardware through the process of discovery, testing, qualification, and put into production under the guidance of senior engineers
- Create and execute tests for server and network hardware
- Create and execute qualification programs for server and network hardware
- Write documentation and create troubleshooting processes to support technicians who assemble hardware and technicians who service hardware in production
- Configure and test systems in the Cato lab in Milpitas, CA
- Deploy hardware and maintain systems in production data centers local to the bay area
- Collaborate with team members through execution and technical challenges
- Improve existing processes and systems
We know people have a wide variety of experiences, and if you can learn well, that is the most important aspect. However, we are delighted if you also bring experience with any of the following: - Basic configuration of network switches running Cumulus, JunOS
- BMC, BIOS, and firmware in servers
- Understanding of Open Compute Project (OCP) hardware and design philosophy
- Scripting and programming (Python, Unix shell)
- Data center power distribution systems from UPS to server
As a fantastic engineer, you also: - Demonstrate an ability to adapt and learn new technologies
- Collaborate with team members through critical technical and non-technical decision
- Have strong analytical, problem solving, communication, and organizational skills
- Are capable of recognizing what you dont know, and you learn new things quickly
- Are willing to stand for and explain what you believe in, and you are okay even if it is not what is used
