Data Architect The Scoop: The PBM business is a data-intensive business with much of our value to its clients deriving from the careful organization, processing, and sharing of data. The Data Architect plays a key, visible role within our IT as well as Business organizations. The Junior Data Architect defines, refines, promotes, and drives adoption of our target state data architecture working closely with the enterprise architects. This role partners with business leaders to understand and articulate enterprise/business strategy, IT strategic elements supporting it, strategic planning, and defining target data architectures. What You Get To Do: include the following. Other duties may be assigned. As an Architect the following overarching duties and responsibilities apply: Understand business drivers and business capabilities (future and current state) and determine corresponding enterprise system changes to drive the organization's targeted business outcomes Assist in design of a data solutions architecture across a group of specific business applications or technologies based on enterprise business strategy, business capabilities, and business requirements Manage and develop the data architecture for a broader scope of projects, working closely with portfolio architects that manage and design architecture for a single project or initiative Monitor the current-state solution portfolio to identify deficiencies due to aging of the technologies used by the application, or misalignment with business requirements Understand technology trends and the practical application of existing, new, and emerging technologies to enable new and evolving business and operating models Analyze the business-IT environment (run, grow, and transform the business) to detect critical deficiencies, and recommend solutions for improvement (systems of record, differentiation, and innovation) Analyze the technology industry, competitors, and market trends, and determine their potential impact on the enterprise Define the principles, guidelines, standards, and solution patterns to ensure solution decisions are aligned with the enterprise's future-state architecture vision As the Architect the following duties and responsibilities apply: Provides technical leadership in analyzing needs and translating them into robust, operationally sustainable, and extensible technical solutions Identifies through research and prior experience, optimal methods, and approaches to translating business needs into software solutions Makes recommendations for technical solutions by addressing application, data, and technology architectures Identifies optimal methods and approaches for translating business needs into software solutions Guides cross-functional teams including Business Analysts, Software Engineers, and Quality Assurance Engineers in implementing technical solutions in line with our architecture standards and best-practices Helps software development teams implement industry-appropriate and regulation-compliant software solutions Facilitates and participates in business requirements analysis Participates and provide data architecture solution on new product development or major product enhancements Translates business needs into solution architectures within the Application, Data & Technology paradigms Guides and reviews software, database, and systems designs Creates, maintains, and promotes data architecture policies, procedures, and standards Participates and contribute to enterprise data governance Identifies, evaluates, and guides implementation of appropriate vendor-technologies Assists with resolution of business-critical issues within the operational environment as needed
Supervisory Responsibilities No supervisory responsibilities, however, this position will be called upon to facilitate and lead "matrixed' teams and act as a "dotted' line informal technical supervisor.
Education and/or Experience For consideration candidates will need - Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent technical discipline (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- At least five (5) plus years' experience in a Data Architect position building and deploying enterprise-class applications along with prior experience in a technical leadership role
- Experience with on prem and cloud data architecture
- Experience and/or exposure to PBM, managed health care or pharmaceutical industries is a plus
Computer Skills Expert level knowledge and experience is required in the following: - Expert level experience in at least one Architecture Framework (e.g., TOGAF), Object Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD), and Design Patterns
- Architecture and design skills including background in Mobile and Web Apps, APIs, Micro Frontends, and Micro Services
- Expertise in at least one of the cloud service provider solutions (e.g., AWS, Azure, etc.)
- Enterprise Software Development experience in with one or more Object-oriented Programming languages
Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsTOGAF Certification (preferred, not required) Other Skills and Abilities Demonstrated ability in the following areas essential: - Design of complex software solutions including, architecture, design, data-modeling and systems engineering
- Experience in all phases of software development lifecycle including strong background in Agile Software Development Methodology
- Analytical-thinking, critical-reasoning, and problem-solving skills as applied to complex business-technology subject areas
- Written, verbal and presentation skills to educate, inform and facilitate decision-making at management level
- Initiate and influence change in a "matrixed' environment with limited formal authority
- Proficiency in sizing, capacity-planning, and performance-tuning software applications
- Demonstrated skills in problem solving, solution analysis & visualization
- Excellent organizational, communication (written, verbal and presentation) facilitation, collaboration and influencing skills
