Description:

Responsibilities

  • Performs daily reconciliation of sales and orders data for the timely submittal to the Corporate Office
  • Reconciles, analyzes and reviews general ledger accounts in preparation for month end close
  • Prepares journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations in accordance with generally- accepted accounting principles
  • Maintains general ledger accounts and related activities for the production of financial statements and reports
  • Assists in the month-end closing process and the preparation of financial statements
  • Communicates the month, quarterly, and year end close process and requirements to accountants within the division
  • Investigates issues and provides explanations and interpretation of financial information to management and internal customers
  • Participates and prepares documentation in support of external and internal audits
  • Audits current accounting policies and practices and Sarbanes Oxley documentation to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, 3 cost accounting standards and
  • applicable government statutes
  • Writes & recommends policies and procedures. Takes part in the preparation of yearly budget and the planning process
  • Helps analyze purchase price variances and standard cost anomalies
  • Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping financial information confidential
  • Applies and leads continuous improvement initiatives to improve the efficiency of internal systems and processes within the division and/or with corporate and customer involvement
  • Performs ad hoc reporting and analysis
  • Serve as a resource to others & may lead or be assigned to a special project team
  • Assesses and interprets internal and external customer needs and requirements
  • Solves moderately complex problems and/or conducts moderately complex analyses
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing
  • professional publications, establishing professional networks, and/or participating in professional societies
  • Qualifications

  • Education and Experience Bachelors degree (BS) in Accounting.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through six or more years of related experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, laws, and regulations, including Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and/or Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).
  • Ability to effectively assess and implement continuous improvement principles and techniques.
  • Proficient with automated accounting systems, spreadsheet applications, and internet/intranet communications.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex financial reports.
  • Ability to prepare detailed reports, graphs, presentations, and business correspondence.
  • Ability to respond to questions from management and customers; respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present information to team members, team leaders, and top management.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to effectively demonstrate team member competencies and participate in goal-setting, performance feedback, and self-development activities.
