Under general supervision, of the Assistant Commissioner of Intergovernmental Affairs, this position serves as the inmate grievance program specialist. This position is responsible for investigating and constructing responses to all inmate grievances and disciplinary appeals filed at the Commissioner of Corrections' level. This position must stay informed and aware of all federal, state, and local regulations related to inmates' rights and DCR policies. This position approves or denies the merits of grievances related to DCR policies and state, federal, and local regulations and laws. Other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Training: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in criminal justice, corrections, social work or related behavioral or social science field.
OR
Substitution: Additional full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience as described below may substitute for the required training at a rate of one (1) year of training for every thirty (30) semester hours of experience.
AND
Experience: Two (2) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid professional experience in a corrections, probation/parole, law enforcement, social work, recreation, religion or related behavioral or social science field.
OR
Substitution: Graduate coursework from an accredited college or university in criminal justice, corrections, social work or related behavioral or social science field may substitute for the required experience at the rate of fifteen (15) semester hours of training for every one (1) year of experience.
For Positions in the Correctional Industries Sales Incentive Program
Training: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business administration or marketing.
OR
Substitution: Additional full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience as described below may substitute for the required training at the rate of one (1) year of experience for every thirty semester hours of training on a year-for-year basis.
AND
Experience: Two (2) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in sales or marketing.
