The role

The Corporate Accounting Manager will be a vital member of the Accounting & Financial Reporting team. The Corporate Accounting Manager reports to the Director of Financial Reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Day-to-day management of the Corporate Accounting and Reporting Staff (including the updating of month/quarter-end closing responsibilities).
• The Corporate Accounting Manager will oversee various functional areas including accounts payable and accrued expenses, fixed assets, related parties, operating expenses and more.
• Prepare and coordinate the monthly reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts and all bank reconciliations, ensuring all outstanding reconciling items are investigated and resolved satisfactorily.
• Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
• Continuous evaluation of the business processes/procedures implemented by the Accounting & Financial Reporting Department.
• Assist the Director in setting objectives (and implementing best practices) to improve efficiencies in the monthly close process and the quarterly process of data gathering and synthesis.
• Coordinating activities of external auditors.
• This manager should have a thorough understanding of the United States (U.S.) Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and assist in applying these principles to transactions.
• Ability to exercise significant judgment when evaluating transactions.
• Manage the Chart of Accounts (in coordination with the Director) to make sure transactions are recorded efficiently and proper Accounting in consolidation.
• Coaching and mentoring a team of accounting staff members, enabling them to achieve timely and accurate results, and facilitate their professional growth.
• Challenge processes and procedures to ensure practices are performed efficiently utilizing new systems/programs.

Key skills and experience required

• Bachelors degree in Accounting, MBA preferred.
• CPA
• 6-8+ years of experience in accounting.
• 4-5 years of supervisory experience.
• Ability to interpret and apply current US GAAP.
• NetSuite Experience is a plus.
• Experience at a CPG or Food/Beverage Company a plus.
• Excellent Microsoft excel skills.
• Ability to think cross-functionality, join data from various sources, and develop solutions in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to be detail-oriented while working efficiently.
• Excellent collaborator and relationship builder; internal and external.
• Excellent planning, root cause analysis/problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Has a demonstrated passion that aligns with the core values of the Company.
• This position is on-site at the headquarters in Louisville, KY.
