Butler, Fairman and Seufert (BF&S) is seeking a Construction Assistant to help support Project Managers in our Construction Inspection department. This person would work out of our Indianapolis, Indiana office.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Asist on daily tasks to support construction project managers: printing and collating contract documents, researching contractor pricing, reviewing time and expenses for field employees, and answering communications from field staff on routine needs.
- Asist in orientation of new staff to the department.
- Manage construction testing equipment: log equipment, ensure calibration, purchase new equipment, and handle issuing new equipment to field personnel.
- Prepare contract documents during construction including change orders, transmittals, close-out documents, shop drawing reviews.
- Perform local part time inspection on small projects and to fill in for field staff. Tasks would include daily report documentation of the project, measurement of quantities, interpretation of plans and contract documents, and project communication.
- Efficiently use basic software including: Word and Excel.
EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required & maintain a valid Drivers License. College degree in a related field is preferred, but not required.
- 2+ years of experience in Construction Inspection and/or administration skills is preferred.
- A strong understanding of Algebraic concepts is required.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to follow company QC/QA procedures.
- Entry level Autocad skills would be beneficial but not required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is sometimes outdoors, and some physical exertion may be necessary.
