Since 1979 The Lake Doctors has been a national leader in providing aquatic water management services to customers in Florida, South Carolina, Ohio, Georgia and Alabama. Our services include aquatic weed control, terrestrial and ditch bank control, installation of fountains and aeration systems, water clarification, aquascaping, fish stocking, water testing.

We are adding a Collection Specialist to our accounting team at our Corporate Headquarters office!

The Collection Specialist will report to the HR/Payroll Manager and is responsible for providing financial, administrative, and clerical support to the organization. The Collection Specialist will be responsible for the collection of delinquent balances. The ideal candidate will have experience using QuickBooks and/ or Service Pro and Excel.

What you'll do:

  • Analyze delinquent accounts and prepare reports on highest risk accounts including recommendations for resolution.
  • Update and maintain asset reports
  • Negotiate payment arrangements.
  • Resolve customer issues that inhibit payments.
  • Reconcile transactions and balances to maintain accurate accounts.
  • Maintain a daily work queue to bring delinquency ratio within target ranges.
  • Coordinate billing with accounting.
  • Monitor receivables and collections providing updates to Collection Manager/Management using appropriate reporting procedures.
  • Document all communications with customers.
  • Advise Management of problematic accounts that will need to be assigned out for repossession and/or potential litigation.
  • Daily telephone and written contact with customers and vendors regarding status of collateral.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and requests for documentation.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

  • High school diploma; Post secondary accounting courses / certification, and / or 1+ years experience in related field.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles.
  • Industry experience is a huge plus!
  • QuickBooks and/ or Service Pro experience is a huge plus!
  • Basic / Intermediate / Advanced computer and/or tablet/iPad experience with Microsoft. Office programs such as Excel, Word and Google Suite.
  • Comprehensive understanding of customer service, principles and practices.
  • High standards of accuracy and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work within a team or independently as needed.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willing to work overtime when requested.
  • Periodic travel may be required.
