SALARY: $16.00/Hr. (NEGOTIABLE)
(Employees will receive 5% below the negotiated pay rate during their probationary status.)

POSITION SUMMARY
Teachers will be located at the Ka nikuhli-yo Family Center caring for children who have parents / guardians that have appointments within building. Teachers would implement developmentally appropriate curriculum for multiple age groups ranging from infant up to thirteen years of age. Employees are to ensure a safe and secure environment for the children that utilize the center. Child to teacher ratios will vary throughout the day. Continuation of this position is contingent upon funding allocations

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develop and implement developmentally appropriate activities and curriculum designed to enhance each child's growth in social, emotional, physical and cognitive skills while incorporating a cultural emphasis.
2. Maintain and ensure a safe orderly and stimulating physical environment for children. Uphold classroom rules that are understood and reasonable for children and families.
3. Model and use appropriate, positive, and consistent guidance and leadership by practicing redirection techniques that encourage positive behavior.
4. Observe, instruct, and interact with children while encouraging proper hygiene, self-care and proper social interactions with families and children.
5. Maintain inventory, materials, and supplies to include; ordering, following up with invoices and includes knowledge of ordering and preparation of nutritional snacks.
6. Practice positive and professional communication with all. Written and verbal communication expected daily. Develop and submit reports as required.
7. Complete and maintain confidential records required by the Oneida Childrens Center Standard Operating Procedures, including child registration sheets, daily sign-in sheets, accident and incident reports; lesson plans; and cleaning and sanitation check lists.
8. Create and submit accurate reports, including state and federal reports; monthly and semi-annual reports; monthly time studies; that includes statistical and narrative information.
9. Foster and maintain positive relationships with teaching partners, community agencies and internal departments.
10. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by conducting research, attending seminars, educational workshops, classes and conferences, reviewing professional publications.
11. Adhere to all Tribal Personnel Policies and Procedures, Tribal Standard Operating Procedures, and Area and Program Strategic Plans and Policies.
12. Maintain strict department security, confidentiality, and quality to meet professional standards of the department.
13. The above duties and responsibilities are not an all-inclusive list but rather a general representation of the duties and responsibilities associated with this position. The duties and responsibilities will be subject to change based on organizational needs and/or deemed necessary by the supervisor.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
1. Frequently walk, stand, sit; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds.
2. Work is generally performed in a classroom or office setting with a moderate noise level.
3. Must be able to work flexible hours to include 7:00am to 9:30pm and occasionally on the weekend.
4. A Tuberculosis (TB) Screening and/or 2 step TB Skin Test is required within thirty (30) days of employment and annually thereafter as required.

STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Knowledge of applicable federal, state, county and local laws, regulations, and requirements.
2. Knowledge of the Oneida community, history, and culture.
3. Knowledge of the principles, practices and methods of infant/toddler, and preschool curriculum development.
4. Knowledge of early childhood development, diet, and nutrition guidelines.
5. Skill in operating various word-processing, spreadsheets, and database software programs in a Windows environment.
6. Skill in analyzing problems, projecting consequences, identifying solutions, and implementing recommendations. 7. Skill in directing the activities of groups of children; evaluating progress, and maintaining a safe, orderly classroom.
8. Ability to exercise independent judgment; meet strict timelines and resolve crisis situations.
9. Ability to interpret applicable federal, state, county and local laws, regulations, and requirements.
10. Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with the individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds.
11. Ability to work effectively with individuals and demonstrate leadership and team-building skills with empathy and enthusiasm.
12. Ability to supervise and ensure a safe learning environment for young children.
13. Ability and willingness to be certified in First Aid and CPR.
14. Ability and willingness to successfully complete the Shaken Baby Syndrome training within six (6) months.
15. Complete Oneida Certification on Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect training within ninety (90) days of employment.
16. Must adhere to strict confidentiality in all matters.
17. Must pass a pre-employment drug screening. Must adhere to the Nations Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace Policy during the course of employment.
18. Must pass a background security check with the Oneida Nation in order to meet the Employment Eligibility Requirements, Tribal/State Compact and/or Oneida Nation Gaming Ordinance as they pertain to the position. A temporary license or Gaming License issued by the Oneida Gaming Commission is required as a condition of employment and continuing employment within the Oneida Nations Gaming Division.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High School Diploma, HSED Diploma or GED Certification; applicants age fifty (50) and older are exempt from this requirement; successful completion of Fundamentals of Infant and Toddler Child Care, Introduction to the Child Care Profession and Child Care Skills and Strategies classes.
2. Six (6) months of teaching experience in an early childhood setting; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
