DEPARTMENT: CLINIC Hire Date: Page 1 of 4 Job Description: Supervisor: VISITING NURSE CLINIC NURSE MANAGER Visiting Nurse Classification: Nonexempt Reports to: Clinic Nurse Manager Date: June 2019 Job Description Summary/Objective Responsibilities include performing routine administrative and clinical tasks required for the Visiting Nurse Program such as assessing patients, providing patient care, notifying and collaborating with attending provider(s). The Registered Nurse functions as a health-team member through independent, interdependent, and dependent roles within the healthcare system. Furthermore, function as a Registered Nurse who provides information and education as appropriate regarding personal hygiene, vital signs, re-enforcement of teaching, recognizing and responding to emergency situations and administering medication within the Registered Nurse scope of practice. This position utilizes knowledge of office systems, procedures, clinic and hospital regulations, interdepartmental functions and insurance standards and procedure to facilitate patient services provided in a primary care clinic. Assures that patient and family receive adequate education to promote wellness and essential skills for safe self-care.Demonstrates competency in selected technical skills (e.g., psychomotor skills, equipment use and troubleshooting, IV therapy, medication administration).Effectively evaluates patient to recognize change in condition and intervenes appropriately.Implements patient plan of care including nursing, physician and multi-disciplinary directives, with concern for the patient's emotional, spiritual and physical needs.Ensures that appropriate supplies and equipment are available, accounted for and used in a cost-effective manner.Takes appropriate action and responds to urgent situations (link removed)anizes, prioritizes and completes activities and assignments in an efficient manner.Performs procedures under supervision of physician or other health practitioners within scope of practice.Collect and prepare laboratory specimens and perform basic laboratory tests on the premises (i.e. finger stick blood glucose, etc.).Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations. Work Environment This job operates in a professional primary care clinic environment and within patient homes. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop, computers and smartphones. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 20 pounds. Must be able to hear clearly with or without assistance. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to see with or without corrective eyewear. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time, part-time and/or per Diem position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 to 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 to 5:30 p.m. This position can require longer hours when needed. Travel Travel is primarily local during the business day. Required Education and Experience Graduation from an accredited nursing school or program. Preferred Education and Experience Bachelor of Science in Nursing and/or previous experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Licenses/Certificates: Must possess a current State of California Registered Nurse license. Current Basic Life Support CPR certification required. Current ACLS certification, preferred. Additional Eligibility Qualifications Ability to interact with patients, co-worker, medical practitioners, and superiors; ability to display professionalism in the work environment; ability to concentrate on details in a busy, distracting environment; ability to solve practical problems and deal effectively with concrete variables in standardized situations; ability to work independently; ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, verbal, diagram or schedule format and have the ability to speak effectively. Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow; Knowledge of clinic and physician/patient protocols. Work Authorization Must be able to prove authorization to work in the country. Verification of RN license and BLS Certification.
