POSITION | Behavioral Technician  



LOCATION | BLC - Santa Clarita

If so, the behavioral technician (BT) position might be right for you! As a BT at Behavioral Learning Center, you will receive quality training in principles of applied behavior analysis, a scientific and evidence-based approach to teaching skills and managing behaviors for individuals with special needs. You will learn how to modify and manage behaviors from experienced Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA). Additionally, we offer advancement opportunities such as our 40 hour Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) training, PAID program manager internship where you learn all the skills you need to become a strong manager including, conducting assessments, creating behavior plans, and providing quality supervision to other BTs. We also offer BCBA supervision and study groups for those interested in furthering their careers in the field of ABA as BCBAs.

Clinical Responsibilities:


  • Provide one to one intervention, utilizing the Principles of Applied Behavior Analysis in a Discrete Trial Training session or Adaptive Skills Training in the home, school or community.

  • Attend monthly team meetings as required.

  • Provide feedback to supervisor(s) regarding the consumer's progress, goal development, need for new programming, and quality of intervention provided by instructors on each case.

  • Accept, follow and implement directions from Supervisor(s), Associate Clinical Directors and Clinical Director(s).

  • Communicate parental concerns immediately to the supervisor.

  • Use appropriate techniques when managing difficult behaviors

  • Effectively follow the set behavior plan

  • Attend BLC staff meetings and professional development in-services as indicated.

  • Attempt to fade out prompts and use the prompt hierarchy

  • Correctly utilize prompts when necessary

  • Correctly follow treatment protocols and procedures

  • Utilize appropriate chaining and shaping techniques

  • Utilize an appropriate inter-trial interval

  • Initiate opportunities to generalize learned skills

  • Complete all goals in a timely manner

  • Take accurate data

  • Collect data in timely manner

  • Diligently and accurately collect data for excess behaviors

  • Complete any additional duties as assigned by supervisor(s). 




POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Skill Knowledge and Ability Requirements


  • Must be fluent in English

  • Must be able to communicate effectively using written and verbal language

  • Some college experience. Ideal candidates will have a BA/BS, in the field of psychology, education, behavior analysis or any other related field.

  • Previous experience working with a special needs population 

  • Experience implementing Applied Behavior Analysis Principles (training provided)

  • Possess excellent time management skills and knowledge of street routes/maps

  • Utilizes professional language (avoid slang) when conversing 

  • Must possess the ability to communicate electronically.

  • Must have reliable transportation and current liability insurance for the vehicle 




Minimum Physical and Mental Demands:


  • Must stand, sit, twist, kneel, bend-over, crouch down, walk, sprint (in the event of client elopement), & sit/play on floor for extended periods of time

  • Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 40 lbs without assistance from another adult

  • Act or react to behaviors in an appropriate manner

  • Utilize CPI techniques when a child aggresses and under no circumstance restrain, hold, pinch, push, hit or provide any physical or mental discomfort to the child.

  • Must be able to serve culturally and linguistically diverse families in low and high SES areas

  • Ability to work with clients that may have sexual dysfunctions or other potentially disturbing behaviors.

  • Must be comfortable working in homes (studio apt, housing project, etc.) of families with limited resources.
