ASSISTANT SUPERVISOR OF CARE- Erie PA



Duty Description: The Assistant Supervisor of Care (ASC)  position is responsible for assisting the Supervisor of Care (SC) with the daily operations of their county office, and must be capable of managing the office in the absence of the SC. Daily operations regularly include (but are not limited to) maintaining confidential consumer / employee files; supervising and directing the work of office staff and Personal Care Aides; ensuring all care is provided to every consumer in a caring and respectful manner in keeping with all relevant policies and procedures set forth by County Homemakers, Inc., and state/federal regulations. The ASC position reports to the SC and the Regional Service Coordinator (RSC).



Qualifications, Abilities and Traits:



· Must be professional, responsible, flexible, patient and a team player. The ASC must have the ability to maintain a positive attitude and possess a willingness to go above and beyond the scope of the position when necessary.



· Must possess the ability to multi-task and prioritize, as well as have the ability to ask for assistance when needed.



· Must have the ability to build a responsible, reliable, well-trained work force.



· Must be able to exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to import company matters.



· Must have the ability to utilize the computer and all required programs to include the ability to organize, access, input, retrieve, report and develop data within the computer programs.



· Must be physically and mentally able to perform all aspects of the position to include additional tasks as assigned by the SC and RSC.



· Must have the ability to comprehend and communicate information to their employees, as well as the ability to follow instructions.



· Must have reliable transportation and must be willing to drive throughout their assigned counties and to/from the corporate office.



Principle Responsibilities:



· Monitor their office by reviewing employment reports, employee files, consumer files, payroll reports, new employee paperwork, and new consumer paperwork. The ASC  must be able to unilaterally identify problems within these reports and engage in independent problem-solving to determine and implement corrective action. Reports should be reviewed at a minimum of once per week in order to appropriately monitor the office. Reports should be turned into the SC monthly.



· Process payroll weekly in conjunction with company policies/procedures and Federal, State and Local laws. The ASC must have the ability to run CareWatch reports, process the Spreadsheet, Missed Visits and Consumer Visit Logs, as well as know how proper procedures when processing abnormal payroll issues. The ASC  must possess the ability to train all employees on how to properly utilize CareWatch and submit Consumer Visit Logs.



· Conduct new employee orientations to include preparing new hire paperwork, reviewing the file to ensure it is complete before the employee leaves orientation, and trains the new employee on key policies and procedures. The ASC  is responsible for entering the new employee into the computer, and must manage the employee’s HR Events. 



· Assist with initial consumer meetings (Meet & Greets) when the SC is not available, and assist with ensuring that all consumers receive their care as documented on the Service Authorization. The ASC  should be able to assist with scheduling appropriate aides to provide care, and ensure consumers are not left without care. The ASC should maintain current Patient Care Items for each consumer. The ASC  will perform a reasonable amount of quarterly consumer Supervisory Visits so that they can ensure the consumer is receiving their care.



· Hiring, training and terminating (when necessary) employees in a timely manner so that the consumers do not go without care, and the office doesn’t decline. The ASC is responsible to conduct staff searches to include (but not limited to) placing ads for new employees and sorting through applications / resumes. ASC  is responsible to conduct reference checks (if the office does not have an Office Assistant).All of these duties require the use of discretion and independent judgment.
