We are seeking a dedicated and experienced HR Manager for a rapidly growing food manufacturer on the East Coast. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of human resources management, including recruiting top talent, facilitating smooth onboarding processes, fostering employee engagement initiatives, managing compensation and benefits programs, ensuring accurate payroll administration, maintaining meticulous recordkeeping, and handling employee relations matters effectively. As an important member of this organization, you will play a crucial role in cultivating a positive work environment and supporting the growth and development of the employees.

Location: Central New Jersey near Pennsylvania

Job Responsibilities:


  • Respond to human resources-related inquiries.
  • Provide personnel policy and procedure guidance to employees and management.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal and state employment law and compliance requirements.
  • Lead local Employee Relations effort; maintain employee engagement, reinforce company culture, and address employee performance issues.
  • Serve as the local resource to answer employee benefits questions.
  • Help to create and foster a positive, employee friendly culture (employee recognition, employee engagement, team building activities, etc.)
  • Assist with payroll processing.
  • Create and distribute internal communications regarding status changes, benefits, or company policies.
  • Administer new employee onboarding and orientation.
  • Develop and maintain talent management processes.
  • Collaborate with the human resources leader to develop effective recruitment strategies.
  • Identify future staffing needs and assist in recruitment and hiring activities
  • Maintain confidential employee personnel records.
  • Conduct exit interviews and recommend corrective action if necessary.
  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality related to organizational changes and other sensitive information related to HR job responsibilities

Required Skills/Qualifications:


  • Undergraduate degree in Human Resources, Organizational Psychology, Business Administration, or related discipline (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Manufacturing or Big Box store Employee Relations background required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of general human resources experience.
  • Human Resources certifications preferred (e.g., PHR/SPHR, SHRM, HRCI).
  • Experience with HR information systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Basic knowledge of Human Resources principles, concepts, and practices.
  • Cursory knowledge and familiarity with federal, state, and local HR and payroll requirements.
  • Able to interpret and apply company policies; able to apply an understanding of key legal precedents, policies and practices to protect the interest of the Company and its employees.
  • Able to build credible relationships with managers, peers, and team members across the organization.
  • Able to handle challenging or conflict situations with tact and professionalism.
