GENERAL ROLE DESCRIPTION

This position will be responsible for assisting and supporting all aspects of Human Resources including recruiting/retention, benefits, hiring/onboarding, performance management, compliance, training and development, and all other HR strategy and operations. Reporting to the HR Manager, this position will be involved in a wide range of strategic planning and internal initiatives, including the creation and implementation of organizational strategies, staffing plans, policies, and practices.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the HR Manager’s supervision and direction, the HR specialist will under the following responsibilities.

• Develop strategies to identify talent; establish and conduct recruitment and hiring process for all employees from collaborating with managers on crafting job descriptions through extending job offers.
• Manage and conduct general organizational onboarding and orientation for new employees.
• Assess organizational needs; identify and support opportunities for management and employee professional development and growth.
• Oversee performance management activities including ongoing feedback, documentation of performance issues, annual performance evaluations, and performance improvement plans.
• Provide performance management guidance to supervisors, and support them in carrying out their responsibilities on personnel matters (supervision/coaching, mentoring professional development, and disciplinary actions).
• Provide supervisors and staff members with coaching and resources to help resolve and prevent interpersonal and team conflicts and adapt to different leadership styles.
• Oversee employee events and appreciation activities such as the annual retreat, social events, and group activities, tracking anniversaries, birthdays, and other milestones.
• Assess and advance employee engagement and satisfaction.
• Serve as HR contact for all employees; proactively engage employees to improve working relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention; communicate openly and frequently, keeping staff informed on benefit resources, organizational events and other pertinent information.
• Exhibit understanding, sensitivity and responsiveness to cultural differences present in the agency’s service and employee population; oversee the creation and implementation of programs that build momentum for diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues; where applicable, conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations.
• All other duties as assigned by the HR Manager.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Communication, Labor Relations, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field required; an advanced degree in a related field is highly desirable.
• Proficiency with Microsoft office and internet.
• Ability to keep internal and external employee information confidential
• Flexible, detail oriented and ability to multi-task
• Knowledge of business management and operation
• Demonstrates reliability, dependability, attendance and good work ethics

• Consistently work in a positive and cooperative manner with all associates

PRODUCTIVITY/EFFICIENCY
• Consistently demonstrate ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner in order to meet future needs

• Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of all policies and procedures

EDUCATION/SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
• Strong computer skills such as typing, system and software knowledge
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to communicate with employees regarding their issues or concerns
• Being an effective team player
• Ability to multitask in a stressful environment with specific deadlines
• Ability to work independently in a time sensitive environment
• Ability to work with others in a time sensitive environment.
• Confidentiality and respect for the privacy of employee information

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS
• Intermittent physical activity including bending, reaching, and Prolonged periods of sitting
• Associate may be asked to work extended periods of time.
