Be part of a team of knowledgeable, compassionate, and helpful allies for our clients. This position will support a remote emergency management consultant population of employees. The HR Business Partner will participate in and help streamline all HR functions. Reporting to the HR Director, this position will play a critical role in supporting the company and overall HR operations. The HR Business Partner will build the overall team through onboarding/training new employees, developing culture, managing employee programs, and facilitating day-to-day HR operations. The HR Business Partner will deliver exceptional HR administration and compliance. The HR Business Partner will play a critical role to align individual and team performance with organization, vision, strategies, and mission.

Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities

  • Support and align business priorities with HR objectives, policies, and business plans.
  • Drive core HR process excellence across the business: leadership and employee development, performance management, reward and recognition, employee engagement, and communications.
  • Execute business plan priorities in partnership with HR team.
  • Work closely with corporate and project staff to resolve issues.
  • Support employee onboarding, development planning and training compliance.
  • Manage HR compliance including ADA interactive processes, FMLA administration and filing/document retention.
  • Communicate and deploy corporate wide training for benefits as needed.
  • Maintain and build SharePoint sites and online resources for employees.
  • Develop leadership and employee training as needed.
  • Spearhead open enrollment training, communication, and participation.
  • Enhance systems and processes for onboarding, compliance, recruitment or other corporate or division needs.
  • Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs, and policies.
  • Support and oversee as needed all employment activity including building job descriptions, recruitment, development, job performance, investigations, disciplinary action, and other organizational processes.
  • Be a resident expert with HR systems, technology, implementation, and integrations.
  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Identifies and implements training needs for business units and individual executive coaching needs.
  • Improve and monitor employee learning and development programs to ensure success. Follow up to ensure training objectives are met.
  • Run employee orientation and onboarding processes.
  • Provides guidance and input on business unit restructuring, workforce planning and succession planning.
  • Support updating policies and practices as needed.
  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal department as needed/required.
  • Builds excellent understanding of critical business functions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, diversity equity and inclusion, performance management, and respective federal and state employment laws.
  • Multi-state compliance knowledge and maintenance capabilities.
  • Elevated level of influencing, coaching, and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Capable in talent assessment and selection; organizational and HR analytics.
  • Demonstrated success in building organization capability and upgrading talent.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, or related software.

Preferred Experience and Education

  • 10+ years experience in human resources.
  • Federal contracting, Affirmative Action planning and execution experience.
  • Experience supporting a remote employee group.
  • Must have a working knowledge of employment laws and/or regulations in various states.
  • End to end recruitment experience and talent pool management.


Required Experience and Education

  • Bachelors degree in business, human resources, or a related field.
  • 5-7+ years experience in human resources.
  • 3+ years of HR leadership or HR Business Partner experience.
  • SHRM (Society for Human Resources Management) Certified Professional or PHR/SPHR.
  • Experience creating HR solutions for small business processes within Microsoft office suite and researching capabilities or third-party solutions.

Supervisory Responsibilities

The HR Business Partner has no direct supervisory responsibility as outlined in the company organization chart.

Expected Hours of Work

Schedule may vary and require work on evenings and weekends. Dependability and punctuality are paramount.


Travel Requirements

Up to 25% travel is expected for this position.

Physical Requirements

  • Sitting or standing for hours at a time.
  • Ability to work at a computer for long periods of time if needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 lbs. repetitively throughout the day and as needed.

Work Environment

  • Hybrid work environment. On-site in our Denver office up to two days per week.
  • All ACDC positions require travel to client sites or for emergency activations/deployments, as requested by leadership.

Additional Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must pass background check upon offer of employment.
