ASAP StartsGLH 3B Med/Surg Telemetry (3 nurses) Geisinger Lewistown Hospital is a 133-bed hospital located in Central Pennsylvania approximately 30 minutes East of State College, PA. GLH recently became a Primary Stroke Center and also received Level III Trauma designation. GLH 3B is a 28-bed nursing unit including 15 telemetry beds that provides care to patients across the continuum. Currently being utilized as our inpatient COVID unit, care focuses on ensuring stable respiratory status of each patient and proactively anticipating patient needs to prevent decline in condition. Nursing staff on this unit have become well-versed on meeting the needs of those admitted with COVID-19. Patients are maintained on this unit including those that require basic respiratory support utilizing nasal canula to High-Flo and Continuous BiPap support. IV drips common to 3B include Cardizem, Lasix, Insulin, and Heparin. Nurse patient ratio is 1:4-5 on days and nights. Staffing mix on this unit includes registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, patient care assistants, and unit desk clerks. Care management is also present on the unit Monday Friday during daytime hours and is an active member of the care team. Teamwork is imperative on this nursing unit and the current staff do a phenomenal job working cohesively to provide optimal care to each patient.
