Job Summary The Escort transports patients, equipment and deceased persons as requiredfollowing established methods and procedures. Assists nursing personnel withpatient handling and transfers; and is responsible for maintaining and cleaningtransportation equipment.Education High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)Experience 1 Year experience in healthcare setting. (Preferred) General Experience in patient transportation. L. 104-191 ('HIPAA') and the rulesand regulations implemented hereunder. Adheres to and promotes Hospital Safety Standards and the Safety ManagementPlan. Performs all job responsibilities in alignment with the core values, mission andvision of the organization. Quality- Makes the extra effort to achieve excellent results.- Takes actions to continually improve quality and safety in daily work.- Takes responsibility for own actions; holds self and others to high ethical andperformance standards.Job Responsibilities Equipment Maintenance - Escort- Cleans and maintains equipment assigned to the Transportation Department,as directed.- Ensures adequate supplies of oxygen for escort department.- Ensures that any disabled equipment is tagged, removed from service andbrought to the attention of the appropriate authority. Patient Customer Service- Maintains excellent public relations with patients, families, physicians, andhospital staff.- Addresses issues or potential issues involving customer service and identifiesprocess improvement opportunities.- Ensures that patients, their families, visitors, customers and staff membersare treated with kindness and respect.- Collaborates with Hospital personnel to ensure optimal patient care andpromote a positive working environment in unit and Hospital. Delivery Functions - Escort- Picks up and delivers specimens and/or reports to appropriate department,as necessary.- Provides oxygen tanks to various departments throughout hospital.- Delivers wheelchairs to lobbies as well as the emergency department on anhourly basis. Accountability- Takes responsibility for own actions.- Strives to improve levels of individual, team and organizational performance.- Measures self against standard of excellence.- Participates in performance improvement efforts.- Demonstrates efficient and effective use of organizational resources as wellas systems and services. Patient Transportation - Escort- Transports or escorts patients to and from all areas in the hospital in acourteous, safe and efficient manner.- Removes deceased patients from all areas of the hospital and delivers tomorgue refrigerators in a respectful and dignified manner.- Assists nursing personnel with patient handling (getting patients in and out ofbed, transferring patients, etc.)- Performs dispatching function as directed.- Checks patient identifiers to ensure that the correct patient is transported tothe correct procedure.Physical Requirements, Physical Demands and WorkEnvironmentReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities toperform the essential functions of this position.
