Manufacturing Supervisor



 



OVERVIEW:



 



As Manufacturing Supervisor, you will direct the activities of team members, scheduling their work to answer daily and weekly milestones while emphasizing effective teamwork, clear communication, initiative, intelligent judgment, achieving and maintaining production efficiency and, most importantly, an unwavering dedication to the safety and quality of our employees and products.



 



ACCOUNTABLE FOR:



 



The Manufacturing Supervisor is accountable for meeting production deliverables and immediate communication to the management team regarding delays in production, quality errors and safety issues.



 



 



ESSENTIAL RESPONSBILITIES:




  • Supervise the manufacturing team, mentor and motivate team members, ensuring individual and group productivity. Also includes scheduling, performance reviews, corrective action, training

  • Act as communications hub for the team, disseminating pertinent and timely information.

  • Schedule routine manufacturing functions, as well as special manufacturing needs and repair of warranty product

  • Work within the company’s scheduling procedures to monitor manufacturing flow, using data indicators to schedule workload, ensuring output meets targeted goals

  • Maintain and boost production efficiency, initiate and implement continuous improvement projects, and work with manufacturing engineers to implement new processes

  • Assist in performing hands-on production and assemble batteries, related fixtures and all other hardware required customer deliverables

  • Assume responsibility for quality output as a participant in administering the company’s quality program

  • Ensure team members work in a clean and organized environment

  • Overtime hours to meet deadlines as needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES



 




  • Strong knowledge of shop equipment, tools and work safety

  • Ability to manage time, priorities and schedules for team members and self

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to make effective decisions in an expedient manner while maintaining extremely high-quality standards

  • Ability to appropriately prioritize resources based upon need

  • Knowledge of manufacturing engineering and related management processes (e.g. SPC, FMEA, Lean Manufacturing, DMAIC, Six-Sigma) a plus

  • Good communication and organization skills



 



EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:




  • 2-year trade school degree/diploma preferred

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a team leader or hands-on floor supervisor.

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience preferred in basic welding, machining and assembly in a lean manufacturing environment

  • Proven leadership, verbal communications and interpersonal skills.

  • Experience with utilizing and creating effective MS Excel spreadsheets; working capability with MSWord, Outlook, PowerPoint.

  • Project management experience a plus.



 



WORKING CONDITIONS:



 




  • - The worker may be subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, vibration, moving vehicles, electrical current, exposure to temperature changes or exposure to chemicals. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, odors, dust, mists, and gases. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.



 



Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes



 



Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited



to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, work boots, and lab coats.



 



May be required to exert up to 250 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
