Associate Director will play a critical role in developing and implementing the strategy. As a member of the finance team, the position will lead key financial administration, business planning, and budgeting associated with both operating and capital expense. In alignment with UHCs consumer-centric transformation, the Associate Director will be a key advisor/partner for the UHC 3.0 strategy, and other priority initiatives, evaluating and assisting with financial plans and economic modeling. The role will also be responsible for overseeing staff and be involved in strategic planning, evaluation, and professional development of employees.


Primary Responsibilities:



Strategy:



As a true business partner, the Associate Director will be responsible for assessing various organizations and intersegment partner relationships performance against the annual budget, forecast, and long-term strategy

Develop tools and processes to provide critical financial and operational information to Senior Management and make actionable recommendations on both strategy and operations

Engage with internal affiliates, business partners, outside consultants and investment committees

Oversee budgetary planning and cost management in alignment with company and segment strategic plan

Provide recommendations to Senior Management based on financial analysis and projections



Financial and Operational Management:


Insuring spend accuracy of the Budget, forecasts, and present financial narratives and metrics for both internal and external constituents

Partner with multiple business leaders as the finance lead and liaison

Negotiate intersegment agreements with internal affiliates which are critical for the segment. This requires knowledge of the business, strong financial skills, finesse in dealing with sensitive matters and the ability to work with a wide range of people with vastly different skills (finance, underwriting, product, operations etc.)



Team Management:


Mentor and develop team members, managing work allocation, training, problem resolution, performance evaluation, and the building of an effective team dynamic

Guide larger, cross-divisional teams outside of direct span of control

Required Qualifications:



Undergraduate Degree

3+ years of broad finance experience, comprised of both accounting and financial planning, followed by experience gathering and evaluating financial information and making actionable recommendations to senior leadership

Experience successfully partnering with multiple professional disciplines to manage critical financial management systems

Experience implementing critical activities in ways that both generate operating improvements and efficiencies

Experience managing the finance function (accounting, budgeting, control, and reporting) within a diverse, division-based entity

Solid analytical skills and experience interpreting a strategic vision into an operational model

Passion for UHG; a hands-on manager with integrity and a desire to work in a dynamic environment

Mature and proactive, with evidence of having worked as a true business partner to the CFO, VPs, and Directors of a multi-divisional organization

Effective communicator at all levels in the organization, with solid oral and written skills and a willingness to share information

Collaborative and flexible style, with a solid service mentality
