Position : VMWare Service Engineer Location : Redmond, WA (remote) Salary range: $100k/year (base) Clearance DOD Secret or CJIS Network experience for a new deal which needs cleared resource with DOD (IT2). Applicants need to support the current on-call work model: - Two shifts*
- Each shift is 12-hours (6am - 6pm; 6pm - 6am) for 7-day*
- On-call Engineers will work on Severity 1 & Severity 2 cases when called
- *Model can change for flexibility for Engineers
Here is the JD: - Candidate should have minimum 5 years' experience in supporting VMWare in Azure environment.
- Provide implementation, configuration, deployment and ongoing support of the VMware vSphere server infrastructure hosting enterprise applications and all of its subcomponents NSX, Distributed Switches, vCAC/vRA, vRO, Update Manager, Single Sign-on, vDP
- Troubleshoot deployment of nodes and VM template problems
- Troubleshoot and reconfigure vSphere and vCenter configuration
- Troubleshoot and reconfigure NSX-T configuration (T0, T1s, logical segments, gateway, dhcp, etc) and HCX
- Troubleshoot and reconfigure vSAN
- Promoting and proactively apply custom/corrective/preventative system configuration into designated customer environments.
- Troubleshooting complex network environments and understanding its topologies to be able to suggest alternatives
- Collect diagnostic data as identified by Azure TSG, VMware KB, Azure Engineering, and VMware Support
- Troubleshoot network connectivity issues between VMs and customer network targets and Azure hosted services
- Monitor and troubleshoot NSX-T administrative and cluster membership health (management plane)
- Troubleshoot and configure NSX-T network resources (T1, logical segment, firewall, gateway) and services (DHCP, DNS)
- Troubleshoot and resolve VM migration issues
- Troubleshoot and resolve HA events issues (including gathering and RCA of VMware logs, split brains, etc)
- Strong knowledge in Network devices like CISCO, ARISTA, Juniper, Firewall, Load balancer
- Creating and publishing Workarounds and fixes in a fast manner for mitigating urgent issues
- Creating standard operations procedures for documenting and training other teams
- Identify and resolve host connectivity issues through proper use of maintenance mode and targeted VMware service restarts
- Independently Creating and publishing root cause analysis reports
- Manage and configure Resource Pools
- Instrument and operationalize features that are not GA, but available to few customers for trial, experimentation or even pre-production environments (custom core count, cloud network storage, ANF setup, etc
- Management and execution of maintenance and upgrades for the underlying infrastructure to meet specific customer requirements
Qualifications: - Must be CJIS & DOD (IT2) cleared or having at least one federal security clearance.
- Experience in supporting large VMWare in Azure Environment with strong Windows & Linux environment with Network experience
- Experience in Change management, Incident management, and CritSit management
